"Good morning, Ms. Enzey." The guard greeted.
"Good morning, Bert." I greeted back as I was logging in to the office's logbook. I do not know what's the point of logging in to this logbook despite having our biometrics. But despite that confusion, I still do diligently.
As I was walking towards the office, Flor, our building assistant greeted me too. Everyone's greeting each other with a broad smile on their lips. What a pleasant way to start the day.
"Good morning, Miss Enzey~", our newest OJT greeted. So I smiled back and greeted her.
"Sir Manuel is calling for you and asked for a return call as soon as you arrive." She said.
"This early? That's new Sir Manuel." I mumbled while looking at my OJT and she just shrugged her shoulder as she has no idea as well what's going on.
I guess, work is the only one that will never let me down. I couldn't even put my bag first and take a deep breath from today's sun fresh air.
I dialed his local number and starts working like any other day or else, I will be swamped with today's workload. Heyday, Monday!~
This new working environment tells me that I'm not allowed to take breaks in between as everyone keeps giving me instructions and more stuff to work on. I love doing clerical stuff and routine jobs but believe me, what they are giving me is exceptional. Not to mention the phone calls and meetings set for today. I wish I could go home a little bit early today thou~
"Ms. Enzey, Sir Man on the line," Mei mentioned and I took the call.
"Sir Man, Enzey speaking. How may I help you?" I blurted and he giggled from the other line.
"Are you okay? You sound so tired and mind you, it's just 1:30 pm." He said and I exhaled.
"I didn't notice the time that it's past lunchtime until you mentioned it. Anyway Sir, anything you need?" I queried as I was pressing my temples. My head starts pressing, maybe from hunger. I didn't have breakfast and now, having lunch past lunchtime.
"Yeah. About the Warehouse renovation that you have been following up, I've talked to the Architect and he will be giving the floor plan tomorrow for approval." HE stated.
"Oh, that's great. Thanks, Sir. You're the man Sir Man." And we both giggled at my lame rhymes.
I keep working and working until I didn't notice that it's time to clock out. The building assistant who's supposed to leave the office late has sent her goodbye to me but I decided to work a little bit later. It's way better than being stuck in traffic.
My phone rings and it's a video call from my college fellas.
"Hey, girls. What's up?" I greeted.
I guess, each other's birthday shouldn't be missed. They called as they are planning t go out on a Saturday Night to celebrate Ritz's birthday. The chitchat gets never-ending so I couldn't finish what I'm trying to do so I decided to just go home after our call.
I bid goodbye to the next shift's guard and walk towards the bus stop while plugging in my earphone.
I couldn't hear that much because of the music playing but I can sense that someone's walking right after me. It seems like I'm not the only one who's working so hard even in this late night.
I took a glance for a moment, thinking it's someone I knew but it turns out that he's not wearing our uniform. My wild imagination starts freaking me out from within. Why does a guy who's not in our uniform is following me in here?
Enzey, calm down. Maybe he's just also waiting for the bus. Calm down.
I'm trying over and over again to convince myself. But I was startled that he starts walking towards me. Every one step forward he takes, I took one step away. D*mn, what should I do?
I was in a panic when he puts his hand on my shoulder and I was about to swing my bag to hit him but he puts his arm across the air to cover himself. And then, I finally realized who was it.
My gally! What is he doing in that nightlight??? He should have been home by 4 pm. He would have killed for causing a heart attack.
"Ron?! Why are you still here?" I exclaimed.
"I-I'm sorry for freaking you out. I-I just wanna ask how are you doing but it seems that you couldn't hear me because of those." He mumbled while pointing his lips at my earphones.
"O-oh! Were you talking to me for quite some time? Sorry, I didn't notice." I apologized.
But on the back of my mind, even if I heard you, I might have done the same. But the swinging of bag part will be omitted though. I mean, there's no reason for us to talk anymore. And I believe we have talked about it as we call it quits.
Ron was my ex for three weeks right after Kree. He was showing some signs of his intentions and everyone was pushing me to give it a try. At first, it was all peer pressure when I jumped into him. But when I get to know him better, I can feel the spark and the connection. But I guess, it didn't work that way to him.
On the second week of dating, right before my birthday, he was talking about these internal issues he's having. So I put his description into the right word, which is a break-up, and he didn't say anything. And we all know that silence means yes, right?
So I was spending my birthday with puffy eyes. For some reason, I cried that night even our relationship is not that deep. Maybe my ego has been hurt that day.
But on my birthday, Sir Man called him for a video call without telling me. I didn't know he saw me drinking and he was so full of himself thinking that I was drinking because of him when in a matter-of-fact, I was just celebrating. He called me that night saying how sorry he is and he couldn't stand that I'm drinking because of him so we get back together. For some foolishness within me, I agreed.
And right next to that week, he brought up the same issue. So we call it quits. I said maybe it would be better to cut any possible ties we could have and he agreed. So I don't get it why he is trying to start a conversation.
He was about to tell me something but the bus has arrived. I believe God is still in my favor. He saves me from the bad souls, all the time.
"I'm sorry but I gotta go." I immediately ride on the bus without meeting his gaze.
I sit on my favorite spot which is right next to the window and saw him waving his hand to bid goodbye. I just raised my palm in the air to bid goodbye to him as well. I wonder what's going on though.
=======
It's Friday morning and thank God it's Friday. It was an exhausting week for me to start the year but I made it until today.
"Enzey!" Sir Man called out so I walked towards him instead of going straight to our office.
"Good morning, Sir. I greeted pleasantly."
"I've got something for you in the Office's fridge to lift the mood and for doing a great job the whole week. After that, go back to my office and I'll introduce you to someone." My eyes were wide open with what he said. Not another as$h*le to deal with, please.
Dating Ron in that short period for the sake of recommendations is more than enough reason to tell me that it's not gonna work no matter how hard I try. Trying is so overrated for the sake of dating.
"Sir, another meet and greet? I mean, you know this kind of stuff doesn't work in my favor. Remember---"
"Enzey, hey, hey. It's not what you think." He tittered as he cuts me out.
"Yes...sir?" I asked in confusion. It seems like there's some sort of confusion.
"Don't worry I won't humiliate myself in front of you ever again and I'm sorry for ruining the peace in your heart but believe me, it's not what you think. It has to do with the floor plan. Purely about work." He smiled broadly as he finds my reaction very entertaining.
I walked towards the pantry while blushing a lot. I somewhat feel humiliated for overthinking.
I eat immediately to get back to Sir Manuel and be in a work mode as much as possible. I knocked on his door and saw the back of a guy who is sitting right in front of Sir Man. He must be the one who has the floor plan.
"Enzey, is that you? Come in." He instructed.
I slowly open the door and entered the room, standing behind the door. The guy stands up as soon as he noticed that I came in and we were both in awe to see each other in here.
I almost covered my mouth from gasping as I was surprised to meet him again this way. But I made sure to stay professional as much as possible so I gathered myself back immediately.
"Enzey, this is Architect Lucas Suarez. He is in charge of the renovation of our warehouse compound." He extended his hand as Sir Manuel introduces him.
I'm still awestruck how fate was doing a great job. I mean, how wonderful the odds worked out today. I haven't seen him since that day until he stands handsomely right in front of me today.
He keeps smiling at me while keeping his hand that way.
"Oh...oh. I'm sorry. I'm Enzey. Pleased to meet you, Architect." I reached for his hand and he clasped mine for a handshake.
"Lovely to meet you again... Enzey. Lucas Suarez, but you can just call me... Luke." He smiled brightly like it was indeed delightful we meet again.
I don't know what's going on but I am looking forward to what's waiting for us to unfold. I am genuinely delighted to see you again, Luke.
