“Destroyer? What do you mean destroyer?” I asked, stepping back from him as I started to look around, searching for a way to escape. The only reason I had asked him was so that I could distract him enough to get away. I didn't care about that nonsense word or what it meant, but he must have figured out what I was trying to do because he closed the distance between us and stared into my eyes.
“The scar on your neck that you are trying to hide, how did you get it?” He asked, not bothering to answer mine. His voice had changed and he wasn't acting as rude as he was before, but his voice still had a dangerous undertone to it. Why did he want to know about my scar?
“Why do you want to know?” I asked, doubting his intentions. After all, he was still a stranger to me, I couldn't trust him due to the fact that only a few minutes ago he had violently pushed me away like I was a bag of potatoes. This man was equally as dangerous to me as everything else here, if not more so because he didn't need a weapon to fight against the unknown dangerous creatures, he just used his hands. Just because he appeared to be human like me didn't mean that I was going to believe him or trust him.
“I am asking you, so answer me honestly or I can kill you just as easily as I saved you,” He threatened me which made me furious, but I didn't know why.
“I didn't ask you to save me, I was running away from you as well. It was you who had decided to become a hero. Why are you showing so much disdain after saving someone's life? What the hell is with the look you are giving me, like I am lower than dirt? Don't you dare give me orders and that look. I will pay you back for what you did when I return home,” I replied, using the same tone as he had, but his eyes became black with anger. It was then that I noticed his eyes no longer looked human, the sclera of the eye had become completely black, he looked terrifying.
“HOW DARE A HUMAN LIKE YOU TALK TO ME LIKE THIS!” He yelled, making me run away the moment he raised his voice. I don't know why he was calling me human again, but I didn't want to find out either. I just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. I figured if there was a way to enter this world then there must be a way to leave it so that I could get back home.
I kept checking over my shoulder as I ran to make sure that he was not following me, but when I looked back at the area that I had run from he wasn't there either. How had he vanished so quickly? Where had he disappeared to, the entire area was wide open? I was glad that he hadn't tried to attack me to avenge being insulted. Even though I hadn't insulted him and he had been the one that threatened me, I didn't think he saw it that way.
I kept on running until I came to what could only be described as some sort of a forest, but it wasn't completely like a forest because the things here didn't look like trees. The color of the leaves weren't green, instead they were a deep blue. I touched one to make sure that it was really that color and not some trick. I learned that they were really blue, but I had always thought that trees should be green. This world was so different from my own, everything looked different.
What the hell was this place? Where on earth was this place? I began walking inside the so-called forest, hoping that I would be able to find a way out, but the stones on the ground were cutting my feet. A stone stabbed my foot, there was so much blood leaking out that I could only stand with the help of a tree. I groaned out in pain, it was so unbearable that I had started crying. I had to be careful though as it was now night time and everything looked even more sinister.
I closed my eyes in an attempt to control the pain that I felt, but something felt very wrong. I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings. When I had first run into this forest there had been no sound, not even the twitter of birds, but now I could hear something growling and I felt like something was watching me.
A strange sound filled my ears as if someone was whispering to me. I instantly stepped away from the tree, as the whispers had sounded like they were coming from them. I stared at the tree as I heard the same voice again, in a different language being whispered by the other trees as well. I listened and very slowly all the trees had begun to whisper. It seemed as if they were talking amongst themselves, but in another language that was far beyond my comprehension.
The whispering voices had been gradually intensifying, eventually it grew so loud that it felt like my ear drums would burst from the sheer volume. I covered my ears with my hands, trying to block out the voices as much as possible, but it was impossible. I felt like blood was going to start seeping out of my ears any second.
Suddenly there was silence. The voices had stopped, causing me to look around in panic because other voices had taken the place of the ones from the trees. I was unable to recognise the voices and turned my attention to the tree before me which was a huge blue coloured tree that had started to move.
“What the hell?” I said, quickly backing away from all the trees. Not only had the trees begun moving, but things were starting to come out of them. I couldn't tear my eyes away from watching the things that were emerging from the trees. They had legs, hands and eyes. They looked to be built like humans, but they definitely weren't. Every single tree had one of these things coming out of it, it made me wonder if they lived inside the trees.
I watched in disbelief at what was happening as I observed these things emerging from the trees. Then one stepped out of the tree in front of me. It was disgusting to see these things, they were just like insects and even though their structures were similar to mine they looked stick-like and hideous. One of them that was very large came towards me and started yelling at me in a strange voice.
I was so scared that I fell on the ground, when I looked up I saw that they had surrounded me. One of them that was short in stature came closer to me, I quickly tried to crawl back away from it. He was looking me up and down with his terrifying big purple eyes when his eyes stopped when he saw my bloody feet.
The stone that had injured my foot was covered in my blood, that thing bent down sniffing out my blood like an animal. I looked around at the other things, noticing that they were watching him do this, but none of them seemed surprised by his actions. I could not understand why he was sniffing my blood until he opened his mouth and a long black tongue came out and he began licking my blood.
My eyes widened with surprise and fear when I watched him doing this. His eyes had changed from purple to red, as he slowly began growling at me. He looked like he had enjoyed the taste of my blood and wanted more, but now all the other creatures around me had started moving closer. I knew that these creatures wanted to cause me harm. Suddenly the thing with the huge build shouted as if he was giving orders to all of them.
"Ou te fè yon gwo erè isit la. Ou se yon moun ke ou ap fè nan plas sa a? Ak sa ki pi enpòtan, ki jan ou ap respire nan plas sa a?” He demanded, staring into my eyes, but I could not understand a word that he had said. He had spoken another language. Perhaps that big thing ordered those creatures to attack me. I swiftly lifted a thick piece of wood from the ground so that I could protect myself.
“Stay away from me! I was just passing through and if you think that I am here to steal your land, territory, or whatever then you are wrong. I am not interested in even learning what you are or what the hell is happening here. I am just trying to find a way back home. Do you understand? I just want to go back home.” I explained though I wasn't sure that they could understand what I had been saying, just like I wasn't able to understand what they had been saying, but to protect myself I was trying to convince them.
Ignoring me completely, one of them came right up to me so I hit him over the head with the wood to defend myself, but nothing happened except the wood splintering into pieces. I threw the piece of the wood that was still left in my hand away out of fear, I knew I had to escape from here somehow. I got up on my feet and began to run as fast as I could in the opposite direction, completely unaware of what the other creatures I would see next. But I knew that whatever it was going to be that came at me next it would be unbelievable.
My main goal at that moment was just to escape with my life and I had only been running for about thirty seconds when a female who looked like those creatures that had come out of the trees stood in front of me blocking my path. I stopped glancing back to find that I was once again surrounded, I was trapped with nowhere to go. The same huge creature came forward out of the crowd and spoke to me.
"Ou te fè yon gwo erè isit la. Ou se yon moun ke ou ap fè nan plas sa a? Ak sa ki pi enpòtan, ki jan ou ap respire nan plas sa a?” He asked in an ominous tone, but I still hadn't a clue what he was saying or how to answer him.
I had no idea what language was speaking or how to speak it, so I tried to convince them that I couldn't understand him. I knew he had been repeating what he had said earlier because he had been using the same words, but as I was not responding to him he was getting angrier. I tried to explain it one last time, but this attempt was just as fruitless as the last. I noticed that all of them were holding swords in their hands as they moved towards me. Seeing the edge of the swords I understood that if its edge touched my neck only lightly my vein would be sliced open.
They were about to attack me, while I was still trying to back away and attempting to explain to them. That was when one of them caught me and was about to bite my hand with their sharp animal-like teeth. I tried to pull away, but his grip was so strong that his teeth were about to sink into my hand. I screamed as loudly as I could, knowing exactly what the hell he was trying to do. That he wanted my blood, he was trying to eat my flesh like an animal.
I screamed at the top of my lungs, when a sword came flying in my direction very fast and decapitated the one that was trying to bite me. The creature fell to the ground as both his head and body spilled out blood. I saw the sword and recognised it straight away, it was the sword of the handsome man that I had met earlier.
The sword automatically rose from the ground and began flying off in another direction straight into the hands of the handsome man. What was he doing here? I thought to myself while all the creatures around me stood there staring at him too. The sword disappeared from his hand, but everyone had started running away in fear, I was the only one left standing there as I had no way to escape and he was already moving towards me.
"Ou te fè yon gwo erè isit la. Ou se yon moun ke ou ap fè nan plas sa a? Ak sa ki pi enpòtan, ki jan ou ap respire nan plas sa a?” The handsome man said, repeating the same words the creature had uttered to me.
“What are you saying? I don't understand a single word of that.” I asked him as I stared back at those things, who still looked frightened. It was a good thing he came because otherwise they would have killed me, but he had scared them off.
“He said….you made a big mistake by coming here. You are a human being, what are you doing in this place? And more importantly, how are you breathing in this place?” The man said, yet again I saw doubt in his eyes, he was suspicious of me.
“Look, you tell these creatures that I have not come to harm them nor should these creatures threaten me. As far as being human is concerned that is a very nonsense question. This is the third time you have called me a human being. What do you mean how am I breathing? There is oxygen all around us, so just like you are breathing I am also breathing.” I chided, as soon as I told him that the scared people slowly came out and began to look at me as if I were an alien. I felt threatened again as their eyes were focused on my neck.
“Thank you for helping me again, but I should leave now,” I said as I started to walk quickly in the other direction before those creatures had the chance to attack me again. As soon as I took four steps to escape, one of them charged at me. Thankfully the handsome man saved my life again, by beheading the man. My body was shivering in terror at witnessing all this violence, but the man was holding my hand.
“What the hell is their problem? Why are they trying to kill me?” I asked, glaring angrily at them.
“Because they know you are a destroyer. They are not trying to kill you, rather they are not willing to let you go.” The man explained it to me as I made an irritated face.
“The word destroyer has just f****d with my mind I have zero desire to hear it again, so it would be good if you let me go. I just want to go home.” I said, but he shook his head.
“It is not possible for you to go back home,” the man advised. I didn't know why I felt like what he had told me was the truth, but I wasn't ready to accept it.
“Why? Why can't I go back home? Why can't I go back home the same way that I came here?” I asked, pulling my hand away from him.
“YOU CAN'T GO BACK BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE A WORLD!” The man yelled as he grabbed a hold of my hand.
“What do you mean?” I asked him as he looked up towards the sky. I followed his gaze and looked up, my eyes widened when I found a red moon, it was the same moon that I had seen in my nightmare.
“This is not your world. This is the world of the undead,” he revealed, causing my jaw to drop when I heard him say that. I now understood that this was real, that I really was in the world of the undead.
