23 HUDSON Peter caught me off guard. After the talking I’d given myself to be a goddamn brick wall that couldn’t be moved, he still managed to take control of my body for three goddamn seconds before I regained control over my surprise. Soft palm on my nape, he’d pulled my head down a fraction, just enough for his lips to press against mine. I jerked back rather than giving him the opportunity to shove his tongue into my mouth where it would have gotten bitten off. “Come in,” I stated through clenched teeth, every cell in my body vibrating with the need to punch his nose clear through his skull. “Do I smell brownies?” Peter called, his tone as radiant as his smile even though his voice sounded like he’d been screaming at a concert all damn night.
