Jacob “Home sweet home,” I muttered as I climbed out of the taxi. I shut the door after grabbing my overnight bag and smiled when I saw my mother standing by the front door. I heard the car drive away as a wave of emotions rushed over me. I hadn’t felt like I had been gone for long, but the reality was I hadn’t seen my mother in almost a year. “Jacob,” she called out as she hurried down the porch steps. I met her halfway and dropped my bag as I wrapped my arms around her. “It’s so good to see you,” she said. “It’s good to see you too,” I told her as we broke apart.
