Rachel's POV
It seems to be the darkness of my life but something was about to make a difference.
It is the leap year. You all know we don't get to see the leap year very often so when it comes, Aren't we supposed to make the best out of it.
I have had one significant thing to change about my life and it is on the 29th of every month in the leap year. it is characterized by striking mystery to happen not in the world but my home. Yeah! You heard me!
I heard the sky speak in its usual thunderstorms and I knew what was coming. It is either my parents disown me tonight or I will make them stop that s**t habit of theirs. The s**t behavior thats makes a mother unconcerned even when her little daughter is frightening by all the troubles of teenagehood or her father repulsive at giving attention to her emotional distress and internal psychological struggles.
Everything makes me want to wean from my parents but I have made up my mind, it has to end all tonight. They are my parents and I deserve their care and attention. I will not let anything take it away from me but then I know I have to do what I have to it. It will never be an easy one.
A glimpse out of my mouse-like window. I see a vague circle emerging in the sky. I see it as a full orb because the whole side of it is facing the Earth and is lit up by the Sun's rays.
It produces no visible light of its own, so I can only see the part of it that is lit up by other objects.
A small amount of light comes from distant stars and the reflection of light from the Earth.
Ooh no! Not again.
A Full Moon?
How do I wait for another 365 days in a leap year to make my parents love me as their only little child and daughter? Where do I find the attention and love if not from my parents?
*****************
It is about 12:30 am, I don't know if I had insomnia because I felt it awkward to sleep early every day after school so I spend my time into the night watching TV shows and making sure I keep my mouth active with my cup corn bowl, sure it makes me feel lively.
Then I heard a striking noise right from the outside of my parent's wooden house in the shrubs of Winchester. It caught my hearing sense that I freak out of it and turned swiftly to the direction of the sound, thinking where exactly that sound was from and why?
I stood up from my couch, wore my loafer slippers, pulled the living room door leading to outside the compound, dashing out anxiously. Never heard such a threatening noise all my life.
I stepped out of the house and met the deep darkness of the night, with the full moon revealing its visible lights as cool winds blew my tendrils from north to south. I could still hear the fierce noise so I began to trace my foot towards the direction the noise is coming from.
One step forward, two, three, four, five, six slowly steps. I knew I was getting closer now to whatever that may be. I tried to hide my body from whatever it is so it doesn't catch up sight on me perhaps it's an enemy of the town.
Leaning my ear so attentively into the thin air to be sure I was on the right path to catching up with the intruder. I dashed out of my hiding place facing the unbelievable.…
The wind didn't make my feeling of anxiety any much less. I saw my parent's pet, Reilly who had come out of the cellar in their active groaning state.
I ought to be scared and not get close to the pet wolf but something didn't seem normal to me at this time. I summoned unprecedented courage staring at Reilly. I have to try to make sure he doesn't get past me to escape out of the cellar completely. If that happens I will have myself to blame when my parent gets to find out that Reilly is missing. I know for sure now.
Posed in front of the exit gate facing the cellar where Reilly was kept. I had to find a way to get him back into its cellar.
Reilly knew he has just Rachel in front of him to get past and he is free from humans' control for life. He has longed for it and this was the opportunity availing itself.
"Get back inside the cellar!" I yelled at Reilly.
That wouldn't change his mind now, Reilly keeps groaning. He trots to escape through the right side of Rachel. She quickly covers up. He moves to the left and she instantly gets it covered up.
Reilly humps to the left, right, center, and another left, right, center maneuvering movement. One last quick left and right humping. Rachel withstands his quicker gait and she is now closing on him slowly.
Reilly couldn't believe little Rachel could get on his way and not be afraid to stop him from escaping tonight.
Watching her obstructing his path with some great bravery.
Reilly got concerned with her courage and is gradually backstepping to find a better idea of getting away from her.
I kept close eye contact with Reilly until I noticed he had reached the door of his cellar unknowingly while he was backstepping.
Rachel gradually began to take a crouched position while approaching Reilly. Reilly's foot slips into his cellar and he freaks out of the cellar immediately attacking her with a fierce loud groan but he got stunned instantly.
Rachel isn't perturbed, she got into a crouched position, deep staring into Reilly's eyes, and letting out a massive howling.
Reilly saw her black pupils turn red-yellowish as Rachel growled. He was frightened and fell off into his cellar.
But then Reilly gets out of his cellar the second time, with a corresponding counter-attack groan to scare Rachel off his way, she pulled off her loafers and jab it on his head back into Reilly's cellar.
Rachel locks Reilly's cellar, stares up at the sky. She gives a nodding facing the sky. She seems to have discovered something unpleasant. This will get her more depressed than she has been and make her want to never be happy being around her friends ever again. She will see herself been lonely.
The worse moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.
