Sari’s POV
A knock at the door woke me up. Still tired, I drifted back to my lala-land but woke the moment I heard another knock; bit louder than the last time. Groaning, I walked to the door and opened only to slam it shut when the past memories flooded through my head.
“Christ! Am I naked?” My words died as I freakingly glanced down at my body only to sigh in relief.
Thank god, I was dressed!
“Mrs. Martin, are you alright?” Tan’s voice brought me back to reality and I blushed in embarrassment.
Jesus! I just slammed the door on his face. Shoot!
Hurriedly, I opened the door and smothered my hair anxiously while throwing an apologetic smile at him.
He gave an overall before straightening in his place. I wish I could see where he was looking at. It’s infuriating not to see where his eyes were behind those thick shades.
I understand how Molley felt about it but seriously, this was only for the safety purpose.
“Yes, sorry for earlier.” I muttered and he just nodded.
At times, I wonder what he was thinking because with that poker face and eyes hidden; I don’t know what to make of his behavior. I might sound crazy but trust me I really needed to know if he was really cool with this or still furious.
“You are required at the grounds in twenty.” He informed and my eyebrows scrunched together.
My head tilted in confusion as, I think, we shared a glance before he strolled back.
“Tan?” I called but he was already gone by that time.
“Ground and me? What for?” There was a wary feeling about this.
The earlier I reach there, the good for my mental health.
Agreeing with myself, I quickly took a shower and got dressed in a checkered shirt and joggers before slipping into flats and headed downstairs. My eyes lit up the moment I heard Ariana’s laughter followed by Matt?
“Woah!” I exclaimed as Matt nearly dashed into me.
He embraced me securing us from the fall and kissed my forehead the moment I gripped him tightly.
“Matt!” I called out and he just patted my head before pulling me away.
He had the biggest smile on his face. With clean shave, he appeared normal than he was when I went on for the honeymoon. But what caught my eyes was his little bun.
Jesus! My brother is sexy.
His emerald eyes winked at me and I blushed as he laughed.
“Still in the honeymoon mood?” He asked totally oblivious to what I was thinking right now.
“Shut up!” I smacked his arm and he laughed before I heard a whining.
“Mom-my.” Our eyes snapped to Ariana who had her lower lip pulled out and eyes glossy as she was almost in tears.
“Oh my baby…” I cooed and kneeled down before pulling her into a warm hug.
Lord! This feels… contentment!
I didn’t even realize I was crying feeling my daughter until Matt wiped them off.
“Common! She’s fine and just to let you know… she needs only one thing.” He cleared his throat and my eyes widened.
Omg! The player… she is.
As if on cue, her fingers brushed my breasts and I pulled apart from her. There were no tears in she-devil’s eyes and it was all a pretense!
Great! Just great! Almost a month away and she still doesn’t miss her mother; what did I do to have such a daughter?
She just needed attention to feed from my breasts. Huh!
I could have but they seemed sore from all the… you know… Blame it on her father! Not on me.
“Haven’t you had anything?” I asked while grabbing her palms together in one grasp.
She gave a toothy grin and I laughed at how easily she accepted her manipulation. God! The fact that her teeth are still missing makes her look even more adorable.
She brushed her face against my chest and I dramatically gasped making Matt chuckle.
“Leave her to me. You get your food and shoo back to the ground. I’ll be taking her away, anyway.” Matt didn’t waste any time to pick her up and tossed her in air, making my heart jump in my throat.
Her excited squeal and laughter filled the room as Matt caught her safely and kissed her lips.
“See you later, baby.” He said and left as I rolled my eyes.
Baby? Really?
I grabbed a sandwich from the kitchen when Tan entered there.
“Mrs. Martin.” He announced and I hastily gulped down my orange juice not before messing my face.
He tensed and if I wasn’t too busy in cursing under my breath and cleaning my face, neck and hand; I would’ve seen him fiddling with his hand.
“I am… almost done.” I announced finally and he just led me outside like the perfect bodyguard he is.
The more we walked, the better I saw two men in military kind of outfit standing with their practiced rigid posture.
They saluted me and I blushed.
“Mrs. Martin, this is Ace lavion; your trainer.” Tan introduced as one of them stepped forward with his hand held out.
Tan cleared his throat and before he could have pulled his hand away, I quickly shook hands with him not before passing a questioning glance at Tan.
“Trainer? Why would I need one?” My first thought was—Am I growing fat?
Is it what they think? Or more precisely, Adrian thinks.
“Mr. Martin wants you to get trained so you can protect yourself when time needed.” He informed and my eyes jumped out of its socket.
My head snapped back to the guy who was proudly standing with hands locked at his back and chest pulled out.
He was 6 feet and three; muscular body. His grip was hard like steel and let me tell you, his biceps were ready to tear off his shirt. It was just a miracle how it was still intact. His hair were short and black with common brown eyes; like mine and round face.
He had no facial hair but plump pink lips. He was attractive and if this training thing was not important; I can bet, Adrian wouldn’t have hired him around me.
My man is quiet possessive.
“Oh! I am sure… the training can’t be that bad, right?” I asked no one in particular until I heard another voice.
“Get it started.” My eyes turned around but Adrian wasn’t anywhere near.
“Boss, is it necessary?” I heard Tan mumble and it took me a while to register that the voice came out of walkie-talkie.
Maybe he was watching over us through a camera or something like that.
“Tan!” The warning was clear behind Adrian’s sharp order.
“And Ace?” I bit my lip anxiously looking at Ace who was still stiff as a log.
“Don’t go easy on her.” Adrian’s words choked me on air and I coughed at that.
The line went dead and I was bewildered clearly expecting Ace to say he wouldn’t but the man was too eager for it.
“Bring her safety shoes.” Tan informed and I glared at him.
‘Sorry’ he mouthed at me and I sighed in despair.
Of course, what could he do when the orders are from our boss?
I scoffed but knew it was not the best time to chicken out. Maybe, I’ll wait till he returns home and talk him out of this.
“Remember not to hurt or damage her.” Tan said in a concerned voice.
The way he was restless, I was sure he was ready to take this training on my behalf. I would gladly allow if Adrian wasn’t watching over us.
“Either I can look out for her or train her the way she needs it.” The harsh reply of Ace stunned us and Tan just nodded thoughtfully.
“Mrs. Martin, I am right here.” He said with a hidden promise and I just stared at his thick shades.
I can trust him; there’s no doubt about it but honestly, I am scared of this bulky dude. Ace was what someone normally calls a ‘bouncer’. He was intimidating and meant business. Clearly, he wouldn’t think before ripping my bones apart.
Sulking, I watched the new shoes that were now tied up and then back at Tan before facing Ace. He just nodded and started with warm-up exercises.
For the first time in my life I was grateful to Adrian to have made love to me this morning. It really got me ready for this stress and we were doing well until the session turned hard. He asked me to crawl on my elbows in a marshy land.
I was disgusted when the splash of mud colored my face. God knows what all germs were mixed in that; yew. Next, he would scream if I dragged myself or slowed down.
There were scratches on my elbow and I was out of breath by the time I completed the length. I was starting to lose my sanity when he attached a 68 Lbs backpack to my back. My feet almost gave away but he hit my calves with a stick and I cried in pain. It was about to cause me to fall backwards.
“Ace!” I heard Tan’s ferocious voice just in time to see him punch Ace, square on his face.
To my shock, Ace stumbled and I wondered how strong Tan was to cause that impact. Long forgetting the stinging pain on my calves; I gaped at Tan who was now unbuckling the backpack off my shoulder and knelt down only to halt when Adrian’s voice erupted from the microphone.
“Tan! We need to talk.” He sounded furious but Tan hissed in annoyance before standing up straight and shaking his head.
“Yes, we need to! How could you allow that?” He shouted and it stunned me.
“Tan—” I whispered fearing he might offend Adrian. He never behaved this way; that was quite surprising for me.
“Sari! Back to the room.” Adrian instructed and I ignored.
“Sari?” He called in that cold voice like earlier and I gulped before answering him.
“Adrian please…” I was worried about Tan right now.
Adrian was raging and I wouldn’t want him to lash it out on Tan.
“Go. Back. To. The. Room.” Adrian emphasized each word as if asking me to dare and refuse and I nodded.
“Alright.” I informed but the moment I took a step, my legs buckled and I slumped down on the ground.
I winced in pain and Tan’s and Adrian’s worried voices molded together as Tan rushed to pick me up. He lifted me up and I hold him as he muttered incoherent words under his breath. He rushed me inside the mansion, lay me on the couch and quickly brought an ice-pack to apply on my already swollen legs.
‘What was that? How could my legs swell so early?’
After three minutes, the front door slammed open and Adrian ran to me. His face twisted seeing Tan and I could sense some tension around me. Might be just in my head as Adrian embraced me and kissed my forehead.
I sighed, missing his warmth.
“Are you alright, honey?” He asked and I smiled inwardly at his concern.
I nodded.
“Can I have Tan as my trainer?” I asked only to see him glare hard at Tan who still had a poker face on.
“Talk about this, later?” He asked firmly leaving no place for discussion before he pecked my lips and headed towards the study.
“Tan.” He called out and I saw Tan glance in my direction before he followed Adrian.
Baffled, I freaked out. Should I go and see what’s happening?
‘No, don’t be stupid. They could’ve talked here if you were supposed to be included.’
But what if it’s regarding me?
‘Then Adrian will mention it sooner or later.’
I leaned back in the couch deciding to stay here and wait for them to come back. I know Adrian will let me know if it was needed.
Whatever but I ain’t ready for this torturous training!
Never!
