Chapter 8 Blood Suckers
TEXAS, UNITED STATE OF AMERICA
After a long trek of about forty minutes, Kiara was lucky to get a taxi that drove her to a point. All she needed to do was cross the dark alley that would give a sight to her street ahead. She heaved a sigh of relief for reaching her destination finally.
All of a sudden, Kiara stopped midway when she heard voices in the alley.
“You thought I won’t ever find you?! Even if you go beneath the sea, I’ll have my merfriends bring you out!” The voice grounded out.
Reasons why Kiara doesn’t keep late nights whenever she leaves home without her car. There are always teenage boys lurking around this alley in particular to rob and harass people. She wondered why the cops are nowhere to be found today. They are always on patrol in the area ever since the dead body of a teenage girl was found in the alley and news had it that she was r***d to death.
This alley was forbidden but she had to use it today because it was closer to her house.
“Please! I promise to pay back soon.” Another voice pleaded in fear.
“When? It has been six months already!”
“Please! I already sold out some gold and I am expecting the p*****t soon.”
The men laughed. “You have no gold, Raphel Grayson.”
Kiara peeped into the alley to take a proper look at what was happening even though a warning bell rang in her head.
“You are trying to play a fast one on me. You hid away your family so I won’t get a hold of them right?!”
“No…no…my wife left with the kids months ago because I have nothing.” Raphel cried with his head bowed to the ground.
Kiara caught a glimpse of five huge men in a circle and there was a man in the middle with his head bowed to the ground.
“Are they drug dealers? No…they don’t even have guns! But they look dangerous! I should turn back and leave!” She thought within herself.
But no! Kiara wanted to satisfy her curiosity. “This man certainly needs helps! I should call the cop.” Kiara searched for her phone in her bag but it was no where to be found. Daniel has it with him. She face palmed herself.
“Please General Darius, I promise to repay you in few weeks time.” Raphel begged.
Kiara peeped again.
“No! You failed me, Raphel Grayson! I don’t give too many chances to your kind!” The biggest of the men snarled at him.
“Please…please give me another chance.”
“Seize him!” Darius ordered.
Two of the men grabbed Raphel Grayson and brought him closer to Darius. Panic filled Kiara. Her heart thud in her chest as the men held Raphel tightly. Darius punched him in the stomach.
“What should I do?” Kiara panicked. Her inner man was telling her to run as fast as she can but she didn’t want to leave.
The men beat up Raphel Grayson, throwing punches at every part of his body. They dragged him up when he fell to the ground and put his head in place.
“Please…” Raphel coughed out blood.
Elias stuffed a thick fabrics in his mouth while two other men pushed his head to the side completely exposing his neck to Darius. Kiara watched not sure of what they wanted to do to the man until two fangs came out of nowhere in his mouth.
And she watched in horror as Darius sank his fangs into Raphel’s neck. He shook in pains, tried to scream but the fabrics in his mouth muffled his sounds. He struggled for his release but their hold on him was too strong.
“Blood sucking humans?! No…Vampires!” Kiara screamed out in realization with a wide eye.
“Someone is out there!” Darius growled after having a fill of Raphel’s blood. They dropped his lifeless body to the ground even as they tried to control their own thirst.
Kiara scrambled backwards. Why did she scream? Her heart beat fast in her chest as she tried to control her shaking hands.
“It’s a woman.” Darius sniffed the air to know her scent. “Find her!” He ordered.
Kiara dropped her heels as she took off. They must not find her or she will be dead. She went through a different direction, running through streets until she got to her apartment. The plan in her head was to slip into her apartment and act like she didn’t see anything.
“I didn’t see them. I didn’t see anything! I didn’t see…anything.” Kiara chanted as she ran fast. She could easily imagine what they would do to her if they find her.
Finally, Kiara reached her apartment. She was panting so hard when she bounded up the few steps leading to the door. She has never ran this fast in her whole life like she did today. She looked around but she didn’t see anyone. They must have lost track of her. She thought.
Kiara fumbled with unlocking the door and the keys dropped to the ground. A small scream tumbled from her mouth when someone touched her. In a swift movement, Darius hand clasped over her mouth to shut her up. They found her.
“Stay quiet and don’t try to scream or else I won’t hesitate to suck out your life!” He whispered into her ears. Her sweet blood smell intoxicated his nostrils and he didn’t know why his fangs were holding back from protruding forward.
Kiara’s heart was beating like it was going to burst anytime soon. Her palms are sweaty and all in all she was scared of the man behind her. She froze almost immediately Darius sniffed her neck again. Her blood was indeed tempting him.
“Sweet and rich scent my lady…” He chuckled.
Tears rolled down her cheeks at the feeling that something bad would happen to her.
“Please…please…don’t kill me.” She begged.
“You saw everything right?” He asked.
“No…no…no…I didn’t see…anything…” She lied.
Darius chuckled darkly. “You did gorgeous. And I might consider sparing your life if you speak the truth.” One of his hands dropped to her waist. Gently, he bit on her earlobe and rocked her from behind as she could feel his manly bulge.
The thought of taking her right on that porch occurred to him, but Darius knew it was against his principles.
“No I didn’t see anything.” Kiara lied again.
“You are a Christian right?” He asked, taking a guess from the image of Mother Mary at the entrance of her door. “A catholic to be precise.” He mumbled.
“Yes. Yes. Yes. I am…a Christian.” She stuttered.
“Good. You must know the Ten Commandments.” His other free hand grabbed her neck.
Kiara nodded her head. Growls filled the air from his men, a signal for them to leave but Darius silenced them with another growl.
“Thou shall not lie!” He swirled Kiara and caged her to the door with his face leaning very close to hers. She could feel his breathe on her which was sending shivers of fear all over her body.
Darius smiled at the horrific expression on her face. He always liked that his presence commanded fear in people.
“Please…don’t do this…” Kiara begged when one of his large hands cupped her breasts. She dared not try to fight against him or else he won’t think twice before killing her. “Please.” Her decision to always defend herself seems to fail her at that moment.
“I can’t let you go. Every human who gets to see us in this world must die.” He tried to kiss her but Kiara avoided his lips.
She sobbed silently as it registered to her that he would probably r**e her and kill her right on the porch. She was terrified. If at all she was going to die this early, Kiara never for once imagined it would be this sort of death—eaten by a vampire. She prayed to God to save her just this once with a promise that she would never go to the club again.
“You want money? I can give you a lot of it…please don’t kill me.” She cried.
Darius stopped inhaling her scent like a hungry lion waiting to devour its prey.
“How much do you have?” He asked.
Kiara Jaden has a whole lot of money to her name. After successfully divorcing Carlos Osvaldo, she got compensation fee for maltreatment and alimony from the marriage with her ex-husband. Thanks to her Attorney, Lila, after realizing that the Osvaldos would do everything to make sure their son doesn’t end up in jail, she had pushed through for compensation. Kiara Jaden got five million dollars for Alimony and compensation.
Since she got the money, she hasn’t touched a penny in it. It was breathing fine in the account she had created for it. So if giving it up now would save her previous life then she would gladly give it out.
“Five—“
“We should leave General. I can hear the siren! We have to get rid of her so she won’t tell on us!” Elias said.
“No! I won’t say anything! I swear it, I won’t tell anyone!” Kiara rushed out her words.
“I can’t let you go.” Darius said in a serious tone.
His cold stare and tone sent a frightening chill down her spine. In a swift movement, he grabbed Kiara’s neck and sank his fangs into it. The pain was horrid and sharp, too much to bear and as if she had burned him, Darius let her go. He spat out her blood as it burned his fangs. It was weird! Her blood was strange.
Kiara tried to stand but she fell to the ground. She touched her neck, blood stained her hand and her eyes widened even more. Her vision became blurry. Kiara knew this was her end. Maybe it was a good way to end everything. At least, she wouldn’t feel lonely anymore, crying herself to sleep, or remember her life with Carlos Osvaldo. She would finally rest in peace and be free from her world filled with pains and sadness.
“Pack up her body and do a clean job. The cops can’t have anything on us.” Darius voice rang in her ears before her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she slipped into consciousness.
