All throughout the meeting, I didn't dare to look in his direction. I just don't want to satisfy him because he really knew me so well that just looking into my eyes he could point out what I'm feeling or even thinking. So I just let David speak for me. Good thing it's what he's good at. As soon as the meeting finished, I quickly stood up and was about to walk out of the room. Suddenly, David held my arm, which made me stop and look up at him confused. "Handshake" he whispered to me and then he suddenly smiled as he turned to look at everyone. I sighed and rolled my eyes, I plastered a smile that I had mastered, and one by one, I gave them a handshake, then when I was about to turn around, David held my arm again and he pulled me towards Will who was standing beside his chair. "Thank you, sir, we're really happy to work with you" I heard David say. I didn't look up or even glance at them because I really didn't want to look at his face. David suddenly elbowed me, which made me look at him glaring. He widened his eyes, smiling widely, and gestured his head towards Will. I sighed in defeat, as I had no choice now but to face him. I looked up at Will with a straight face and saw he was already looking down at me, smirking. Ugh! Did he find this situation entertaining!? "Thank you, SIR," I said, emphasizing the last word, and offered my hand to him. He looked straight into my eyes but I quickly looked away from him, then he slowly accepted my hand, and just like that my breath hitched as his hand fully touched mine. He held my hand firmly but with gentleness, the electricity was still there. The way my body and heart responded to his touch. "My pleasure, Ms. Aguirre" he simply said, and I could still feel his gaze on me. Then I quickly pulled my hand away from his like I had just gotten burned by his touch. And before I could turn around I forced a smile, a smile that would surely send him the message. Truth be told, smiling is the best way to face any problem, crash every fear, and hide every pain. And as expected, his smirk disappeared and before I could see his reaction, I finally turned around and walked out of the office. So much for having a dramatic life. ============================ "You're kidding me, right?" Misty asks with wide eyes. "Look at me Misty, do I look like I'm kidding you," I said as I pushed my face closer to her wearing my poker face. "Damn! So much of a dramatic life you have. First thing, your ex-husband annulled your marriage and now..your EX-BOYFRIEND has come back!!" She said, emphasizing the 'ex-boyfriend' "I don't know what to do anymore, I can't even think properly," I said and sipped my choco chip frappe. We're here at the Starbucks. I called her as soon as the meeting ended. "I really can't believe it! Yesterday I was just thinking about him getting back and now he's here!" She says, still in a daze. "Wait..wait...What if he asked you, Miranda?" She suddenly asks with wide eyes. Well, I already thought about it, but if he came for me, why now? Why not 1 year ago? I put down my drink and looked at her. "If he came back for me, don't you think it would be too damn late? I don't care about his reasons anymore," I said seriously. And the past memories came rushing back at me again, but I shook my head to prevent them. She sighed and then took a sip of her drink. "You'll never know unless you talk to him," she says. I sigh and put a hand on my chin, my elbow is resting on the table. "I'm done with all this s**t, Misty, I'm done with them. All I want now is to move on and be happy with my life," I said. She looks at me intently then sighs, I know she understands me as she didn't push the thought of Will again... This is all I need; no more aches. No more tears. Just me. ===================================== "What? But..sir, why?" I asked in disbelief. "I'm sorry Ms. Aguirre, but I need a full-time secretary now that my schedule is hectic." Mr. Austin says seats on his swivel chair. "Sir, I thought you'd already agreed with this matter, Sir?" I said, looking at him. I cannot believe this is happening! After my little talk with Misty, I quickly got to work as my work in the office starts from 1 pm in the afternoon until 8 pm or as needed. But then, when I arrived, Mr. Austin called me and now he's telling me that I'm fired!? What the hell!!? He sighed and looked at me. "I'm really sorry Ms. Aguirre" My shoulder fell and I looked at him defeated. "Okay sir, thank you," I said and stood up and walked towards the door without looking back. I went to my table and gathered all my stuff. My colleagues tried to ask me why I was leaving but I just ignored all of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm the nicest person around here, but I'm not really in the mood to talk to anyone right now. I really hate this day... ======================== "What!? What are you going to do now?" Misty asked on the phone. "I didn't do anything, he just fired me saying he needed a full-time secretary" I explained. "Gosh! What a worst day for you." She said. I rolled my eyes and leaned on the sofa. "Just come in here already," I said. "Relax, I'm on my way. See ya!" She said and hung up the phone. I put the phone down next to me and stared at the ceiling. I sigh heavily and fix myself to sit properly, then I reach for the TV's remote. I turned the TV on and placed the remote back on the center table. Fuck you fate!! I kept silent as the reporter kept on asking him questions. He is wearing a tuxedo. Still eye-catching as ever, I wonder if he has a girlfriend right now. Well, scratch, I forgot that I didn't care. I think Micheal is there too, as he was part of the 'Business World', he used to take me to those before, but only if needed. "So Mr. Blake, how was Paris? You stayed there for a long time" the reporter asks. I didn't dare to even blink as my gaze was fixed on the TV's screen and I was all ears waiting for his response. "Well, Paris is still great..but you know, I'm not there to have fun, so...It was really hell for me because of work and all but all and all, everything's great. My business there is a success." He says and smiles in the end, his forced smile. "Oh, so why did you get back here?" The reporter asks. God, I should thank this reporter soon. "Well, our main branch is here.." He says and then suddenly he looks at the camera with his serious and hard stare that made me back away a little because he was like looking at me. I felt the chills all over my body and my heart started to beat fast again as I stare at those green orbs. "..and I have..let's just say..unfinished personal business to take care of," he said, and the reporter was about to ask again, but he suddenly put his hand up and smiled, then turned around and walked up the stairs towards the entrance of the ball. I stayed glued to my seat as I processed everything he just said... Oh s**t!
