Looking for the Fire
I blame this next story entirely on Emily Beale—the heroine of my first Night Stalkers romantic suspense, The Night Is Mine. Seriously. She did her job in the Night Stalkers series, which was to find four kick-a*s soldiers to fill her helicopter. The series was founded on filling the four seats of a Black Hawk helicopter with four strong women and the men they deserved. I call these the Emily Beale Quartet: The Night Is Mine, I Own the Dawn, Wait Until Dark, and Take Over at Midnight.
The problem was that when Emily exited the Night Stalkers, I was far from done with her. I think that she is one of the best characters I’ve ever created. So what would she do next?
