Jilted Mate 02

The ferry honked, signaling that it has finally arrived in the port of the South. Veronica has her shade on and her hoodie. She grabbed the keys in the bedside table and went out of the cabin.   Veronica drove away from the port, throwing her bags on the backseat along with her shades. She turned on the GPS to locate Jarvis' shop, but before that, she texted him earlier. Veronica bitterly smiled, seeing couples and families, happily walking down the street of Skintins, the most populated city in the South. She already misses her Dad. She wanted to call him to ask about his health, but she doesn't have the guts. Until now, her father's disappointed face etched on her mind.   Veronica glanced at the mirror and saw her face. Dark circles began to form under her eyes. It was horrible as she barely slept at all. Veronica smiled a little when she saw Jarvis' shop. She looked around, finding a spot for her car. Once she found a perfect place, she parked her car and turned the ignition off. Veronica went out and put her glasses on.   MONDRAGON INKS AND BEERS   She couldn't help but shook her head and shudder at the shop's name. After all these years, it was still a horrible name for her. She always thought that the drunken side of Jarvis made and was surprised how did it get so big and famous.   With her head held up high, she walked to the shop. Jarvis saw her and smile while waving his hand. The man has beautiful tattoos covering his shoulders. He is around 5'8, with a strong defined jawline, toned body, and handsome face. Girls flocked around him every day.   "Glad to see you again, V," he said and hugged Veronica. It's been years since her last visit to the South, and she surely misses this man.   "Thank you for taking me in, Jaja," she said. That was her little nickname for him. Jarvis chuckled and looked around.   "Where did you park your car?" he asked. Veronica pointed her black car parked in the vacant space of Jarvis' shop. "What about your things?" he added. "I left them all inside," she said.   "I'll tell Mikkel to get them later," he said, putting his hand on Veronica's waist and led her inside. Despite the upbeat music played, the loud sound of the tattoo machine prevails.   "You hired new ones?" Veronica asked, seeing unfamiliar faces inside. Jarvis nodded his head. They went upstairs and entered a vacant room. "Silas and Benn left, those two found their mates. That's why I hired new ones, you know customer kept flooding my shop," Jarvis said and sat on the edge of the bed.   Veronica walked around, surveying the room. It's spacious but not spacious, like her room from the North. The room has a small cabinet, bedside table, and a bathroom. It also had a great view outside. After all, beggars can't be choosers.   "This is gonna be my room, Jaja?" she asked. Jarvis nodded while playing with his piercing.   "So tell me, V. What happened to you?" Jarvis said, his eyes were full of curiosity. Veronica heaved a sighed and sat on the wing chair beside her. She put her shades on the table and clasped her hands.   Veronica started telling Jarvis everything that had happened. From the first time she met Damien until she attempted to kill Blake's mate. After she was done telling everything, she waited for Jarvis to talk. The disturbing sound of the clock ticking was the only one who can be heard inside the room. A minute passed, but none of them talk. Jarvis narrowed his eyes at her.   "V, what you did was wrong. Very very wrong," Jarvis finally said, breaking the silence. Veronica's heart sunk, hearing his response. "Even if you tell me now that you did that because you love that Alpha, it's still wrong," he added. Veronica bites her lips as Jarvis was scolding her like she was a little child. Jarvis heaved a sigh and patted the space beside him.   "Come here," he said. Veronica eagerly followed and sat. Jarvis put his hand on her shoulder and pulled her close to him. "Now cry. I know you've been bottling that inside for days," he added, and with that, Veronica's tears started falling, her gut-wrenching sobs filled the room. Jarvis calmly patted his friend's back. It didn't even cross his mind that Veronica would do this. Love can change you for good or destroy all of you.   Veronica hiccupped while wiping her tears away. The frustration, anger, sadness, and guilt that's she's been feeling, slowly vanished with that one cry. But deep down, she knew, those feelings cannot be easily forgotten. Jarvis handed him a glass of hot brewed caramel coffee.   "Are you feeling okay now?" he asked. Veronica nodded and took the glass from him. She's glad that after she revealed what happened, Jarvis still accepted her as a friend. "Lou called, you can join serving beers later when the bar opens, is that okay with you?" he asked.   "It's fine with me as long as you won't sell me to perverted old crook," she jokingly said that made Jarvis chuckle. Any work will do just fine because she knew her money won't last a long time. Lou is the one managing the bar. He's been with Jarvis ever since. They are both business partners.   "You just gave me a great idea," Jarvis said and raised his eyebrows. Veronica's eyes widened.   "Jaja!" she shouted. Jarvis heartily laughed and ruffled her hair.   "Get some sleep, V," he said. Veronica sighed.   "I can't sleep," she said. She has trouble sleeping because she always sees her father in her dreams and also Blake that continuously blaming her.   "Then what do you want to do?" Jarvis asked. "I can't accompany you right now because a customer called me to do her tattoo," he added. Jarvis is a famous tattoo artist. His work is really beyond magnificent.   "Oh, if I know, you're just gonna fvck that customer after, right Ja?" she asked. Jarvis put his hand on his chin like he was thinking.   "Hmm, you're completely right," he said and smirked. Veronica rolled her eyes at him.   "I'm okay with myself. I'm going to tour the shop again," Veronica said. She saw the shop extended its space. Jarvis might have put another entertainment in there. "Do what you like, V. See you later on dinner, okay?" Jarvis said and kissed her forehead. He left the room, and Veronica decided to wash her face. She is used to Jarvis doing that, and it didn't bother her a bit.   Veronica descended the stairs after washing. She enjoyed watching tattoo artists with their customers. Jarvis can't be found in here because he has a private room for himself and his customer.   "Yo, V! Long time no see," Lou said. "Thinking of getting a new tattoo?" he asked and went to her side.   "I thought you were coming later at night?" she asked. "I don't have a particular design I like, maybe not now," she added and shrugged her shoulder.   "Oh, I have to check some stocks, and Jarvis told me you are here. I hurriedly went to say hi," he said with a smile. They both talked till the night comes and the Mondragon bar opened. She fixed her dress and glanced at the fully packed shop. She inhaled deeply, ready to embrace the new beginning.
