[Val] We finished closing up the shop. Stanton had texted earlier to let us know Clover was awake and he was taking her home. Jen, Emmalyn, Maya, and Nixie weren’t nearly as happy to hear that as Kinlee and I were. Jen explained that waking up wasn’t enough to know if she was better. It was only the first step. Now, we’d find out how the damage affected her. It wasn’t that they weren’t happy, they just didn’t feel it was a big enough step to celebrate. After we said goodbye to Emmalyn, Jen and I headed to the apartment. Emmalyn made Jen promise to give her an update on Clover later. They seemed really worried. More than they were when she was still sleeping. At the top of the stairs, Jen squeezed my hand. She looked like she was preparing herself for the worst. That made me nervous.
