I'm feeling so happy! Last night with Mark was just perfect. It was what I had been waiting for all this time and haven't realized. I can feel our connecting getting stronger. And I love that! It was great before, but now? I could feel my bond to him like it was a physical thing, a thread that joined us together. Reading him had always been easy to me, but now it's almost as if I feel what he is feeling. It's just wonderful.
"Ava? Can we speak for a moment?" my dad calls to me, and I go, still too happy to worry about anything.
"Of course, what's going on?" I ask him, feeling a little reluctant.
"I'm worried about you. You should be at school, with your friends, living your life. Not here in the compound with a bunch of ex-military shifters, trying to stop a crime lord."
