10. Anniversary

1713 Words

Ava As soon as I wake up I become aware of what day it is. It's the tenth anniversary of my k********g. My parents do their best to forget it ever happened, but for me it's not that easy. Sometimes I still dream about that dark room and the boy that saved me. With time, his face has faded, and all I have is a blurry memory. What still stands out are the bruises and the black eyes, the pain in his eyes and the determination to help me, even if he couldn't help himself. No matter the time or the distance, I just can't forget about him or what he did for me, even if my parents refuse to acknowledge what happened, I never stopped wondering if he had survived, and how his life would be if he was still alive.  When I go downstairs I hear familiar voices, and realize that Jenny is already there
