I struggled to swallow the last piece of dried bread, which Cathy had smuggled in, knowing fully well I wouldn't get anything to eat, after that.
It seemed ever since the Alpha discovered I was pregnant, my punishment had doubled. I patted my stomach subconsciously. That was the habit I had adopted, without even knowing until it became a part of me.
I did it whenever I was upset, whenever Gabe taunted me, and tried to force himself on me. Or, whenever I was being bullied and punished by Vera.
I heaved a sigh, as I stared down, at my chapped skin, which had lost its glow. There were bruises scattered on random spots. There was an unhealed one below my knee, where Vera had pushed me to the floor. My tears flowed fast, and I stared down at my stomach.
