I just lost the little dignity I had left. Right in front of a hall filled with people and probably millions others if those media cameras caught the scene on camera. Is there a reason I shouldn't hate myself?
Ten minutes have passed and Hilda hasn't said a word to me, she is keenly listening to the man who embarrassed me. I have probably lost her as well.
I haven't heard a word the guy has said since he took away my phone and earphones. All I can think of is how everyone will treat me after this, it's my first day here and I am already on top of the list of geeks. The ones with a legendary record of embarrassing themselves.
The man on stage starts wrapping up his speech. People are cheering, crapping some girls crying. Was his talk really that touching? If he didn't embarrass me, if he didn't take my phone, perhaps my mind would be relaxed enough to absorb his words.
But I hear the following because he looks right at me as he utters the words and winks. "I am assuming you enjoyed listening to me, hope to see you again some day!" He says. Everyone rises, crapping and cheering. No one noticed that last line was somehow meant to piss me off.
If he knew the things he just took away from me! Would he care?
Just yesterday, I spent fivety dollars buying downloadable ebooks online, all files are in that phone. Then there is my music, my pictures and videos, how will I get those back? I didn't have cloud storage for them.
But those are nothing compared to the classic embarrassment I have earned. He had to pick me of all people in the hall to answer his question?!
The Vice Chancellor stands and shakes the billionaire's hand, a huge smile plastered on his face. The billionaire only nods.
He walks away from the stage and his bodyguards immediately surround him, keeping the crowd at bay as the boss makes his way towards the door.
"Time to go get your phone back, naughty little geek!" I hear Hilda say.
Great! I still got my a friend. Forget what she just called me, I want my phone back.
Hilda grabs my hand, together we force our way through the crowd. Now and then, I hear someone shout, 'naughty little geek!" as we bypass them. Hope the nickname won't stick.
By the time we get to the door, the man is already gone. We rush through the door, see him out on the red carpet. He is not too far, but there is a massive crowd of fans all being held back by the bodyguards from reaching him.
"Come on." Hilda urges.
I have given up getting to him, but I follow anyway.
Pushing through a crowd of funs is hell. Everyone is looking for a way forward, so you have to scramble with them for it.
Thanks to Hilda's determination, we make to the front line. What remains is for me to scream loud enough to get his attention. What could be harder than that!
"Mr. Harvard!!!" I shriek. I didn't think I was loud enough until his eyes find mine. "Please give me my phone!" I say.
A smile curves on his face. I amuse him?
"Sir please!" I beg, something I hate doing.
He keeps going, acting as if I didn't say anything. Wish he didn't have bodyguards, I swear I would take him down and punch the arrogance out of him.
Hilda helps me keep running after him, we both scream for his attention, either he ignores us or doesn't hear.
He turns back and once again winks at me before he enters his magnificent sports car. A bodyguard holding the door open and closing it.
The window rolls down and the man perks out at me. "I will kill you!" I mouth. His face lights up and he laughs, hard. I watch helplessly as the car takes off.
"Sorry honey, hope you didn't have any dirty files in there or you will be trending for a very long time!" Hilda says.
"I am probably trending already. If those press cameras didn't catch a video of what happened in the hall, some other people did." I say regretfully.
"Yes, you will be all over YouTube and social media. Sorry to say so but it's the truth." Hilda replies.
I hate that she is being honest instead of telling me that everything will be okay. Isn't that what friends are for?
"I will never have friends, everyone will mock me!" Tears sting my eyes.
"But you will have me, naughty little geek." She soothes. I don't mind her calling me that, I know she is joking.
"Let's go get you a drink, it will come you down." She suggests. Sounds like she will make the best friend.

The school cafeteria is more refined than than I had imagined. There is a few people here and there, either sipping drinks or eating a snack.
Eyes turns to me the moment we walk in. I revert my gaze to the floor. This is going to be an interesting year considering I am already a star.
"You can stay here while I get us drinks." Hilda leaves me standing between tables. She disappears inside some cubic chambers which I suspect are service areas.
I find myself a seat and try calming my mind. But then a tall blonde in a flashy, black outfit approaches. A guy I assume is her boyfriend accompanies her, he has huge muscles, probably a football or a rugby player.
"Got your cheap phone back, naughty little geek?!" He says snidely. His girlfriend fakes a loud laugh. This guys have no idea how much adrenaline rushing through my veins right now.
"How can anything be cheaper than your stripper girlfriend?" I hear my mouth say. That makes both of them raise eyebrows. The guys eyes darkens dangerously. But my mouth isn't done looking for trouble. "Tell me, why are you looking for my phone, you want to call your mom?!"
"Better mind what comes from your mouth, naughty little b***h!" The man roars, closing the little space between us.
Hello, gorgeous readers! Sorry for the slow updates! I am writing three books at the same time and I am really working hard to keep updating each one of them.
I want to keep a good, intriguing story, that means I can't rush or the plot and characters will be ruined.
Hope you'll be patient with me.
