Her Defiance

The next class was accounting, the subject I hated the most. But I had no choice; it was a necessary part of my degree. As we all sat down, I made sure to sit next to Hailey. She was good at accounting, and I knew I'd need her help to get through the next two hours. The lecture started, and Professor Miller began to drone on about various accounting topics, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and more. I tried to focus, but my mind kept drifting. My eyes would occasionally glance at Hailey's notes to see if I was missing anything important, and I could see she was scribbling away, her face serious and concentrated. Meanwhile, I was doodling little flowers on the corner of my notebook, struggling to keep my eyes open. Every few minutes, I'd shift in my seat or tap my pen against the desk, anything to keep myself awake. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the professor ended the lecture. I let out a sigh of relief. "Finally, we are free for an hour until our next class," Jason announced, stretching his arms above his head. "Yeah, let's go to the cafeteria to eat something," Hailey suggested with a grin. We all nodded in agreement and started walking out of the classroom. My friends were walking a few steps ahead of me, chatting and laughing, while I lagged behind, quickly checking my messages on my phone. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Excuse me?" a girl's voice said from behind me. I turned around to face her. "Yes?" I asked, curious and slightly startled. "That's for you," she said, handing me a small folded note. "What? Why are you giving this to me?" I asked, confused. But the girl didn't answer. Instead, she just turned around and started walking away in the opposite direction. "Hey! I'm asking you, why did you give this to me?" I called after her, raising my voice, but she didn't even glance back. She just kept walking away as if she hadn't heard me. "What the heck is wrong with that girl?" I muttered to myself, baffled by the whole situation. "What happened, Evelyn? Why are you yelling in the hallway?" Jason asked, turning back to look at me. "What's in your hand?" Amelia asked, her eyes fixed on the note I was holding. "Well, a girl just handed this to me and walked away," I explained, still looking at the mysterious piece of paper. "Well, what are you waiting for? Just open it!" Jason urged, his eyes filled with curiosity. They all gathered around me, eager to see what was inside the note. With a deep breath, I unfolded the paper. My eyes widened as I read the message: "Meet me after class, waiting for you." It was signed with just a single initial, "X." I felt a chill run down my spine. My friends were looking at me with amused expressions. "Wow, Eve, I didn't know you had a secret admirer," Jason teased, giving me a playful punch on the arm. "You didn't tell us about your secret, Romeo!" Amelia added with a smirk. "Who's he?" Mathew asked, and I noticed a flash of jealousy in his eyes. "Maybe it's some rich guy from the West Wing who's been eyeing her for weeks," Hailey suggested, grinning. "Or a mysterious stranger with a dark past!" Jason added dramatically, making us all laugh. "Stop it, guys," I muttered, trying to hide my discomfort. But my heart was racing. Who gave me this note? Who wanted to meet me? And who the hell signed with an "X"? A thousand thoughts raced through my mind, each one more confusing than the last. I glanced around the hallway, hoping to find some clue, some sign of the person behind this strange message. And then I saw him. Standing at the far end of the hall, leaning casually against the wall, was the same guy from yesterday. the one who had threatened me. He was watching me with a smirk plastered on his face, his eyes locked onto mine. I felt a surge of anger rush through me. How dare he? Who the hell did he think he was, sending me notes like this, playing these stupid games? I could feel my blood boiling, my fists clenching at my sides. My thoughts raced with fury. Now I know who the f**k sent me this note. Who the hell does he think he is? I can't tolerate this s**t. "Evelyn, tell us, who is he?" my friends asked, their voices full of teasing curiosity. I turned back to them, but instead of explaining, I spoke loudly enough so he could hear me. "No one, just a stupid bastard trying to ruin my day," I declared, tearing the note into small pieces and letting them fall to the floor. I shot him one last glare, my eyes filled with defiance. I could see his smirk widen as if he was amused by my reaction, but I didn't care. I grabbed Mathew's hand in front of him, making sure he could see, and turned toward the cafeteria with my friends. "Let's go, guys," I said, keeping my head high and walking away without looking back. But I could feel his eyes on me, watching every step I took, and I was determined not to give him the satisfaction of seeing me falter XAVIER’s POV I arrived at the college an hour earlier today, just to catch a glimpse of my mate before starting my day. I made my way straight to the entrance where the East and West wings of the college separated and stood there, casually leaning against the wall. I scanned my surroundings, noticing the humans milling around, chatting with one another, and unaware of my presence. I could feel the familiar hunger creeping in, the craving for human blood. It's been a while since I fed, and today, I was planning to satisfy that thirst. My eyes darted from one human to another, weighing my options. But then, a different thought crossed my mind. How would it feel to feed on Evelyn? She's my mate, after all. If her scent is so incredibly sweet, I bet her blood tastes even more exquisite than the rest of these humans. It's natural for vampires like us to feed on our mates, to claim them, mark them as ours. But Evelyn her case is different. She's human, fragile, and it would take time to ease her into my world, my ways. But once she is with me, truly mine, I will turn her into one of my kind. She will stand by my side, the queen of all realms, living an immortal life with me. Just the thought of it makes my blood race. I was lost in these thoughts when I heard footsteps approaching. I turned to see Liam and Sebastian walking toward me. "Hey, Xavier. What's up?" Liam greeted with a grin. "What are you doing here so early?" Sebastian asked, raising an eyebrow. "I wanted to see my mate before our classes began," I replied nonchalantly. "And what about you two? Why are you here so early?" I shot back at them. Liam smirked, "Dude, we come early every day, so we can feed on humans before classes start." "Yeah, you should join us, Xavier," Sebastian added, laughing. I shook my head, "Not now. Liam, go find out my mate's timetable. Sebastian, go compel the principal; make sure everything is in place," I ordered. They nodded and quickly left, understanding that I wasn't in the mood for any distractions today. I leaned back against the wall, feeling the anticipation build within me. Minutes ticked by, and then I saw her. Evelyn stepped through the college's main gate, and my eyes immediately fixed on her. She looked absolutely stunning today. Her dark hair was pulled back in a high ponytail, which only emphasized the delicate curve of her neck. She was wearing a simple outfit, but on her, it looked like something out of a dream. I could see other boys glancing her way, their gazes lingering a little too long. A wave of annoyance washed over me. Could this girl go anywhere without men losing their minds? I thought bitterly. She's mine, whether they knew it or not. Then, her eyes met mine. I saw the flash of recognition, and then, almost instantly, her posture stiffened, and I could feel her tension from across the distance. I couldn't help but smirk at her reaction. She looked like a deer caught in headlights, but within a second, she quickly pretended to ignore me, turning her head and walking briskly towards the East Wing. I watched her, amused. She was trying so hard to act as if I wasn't there. Oh, little human, you think you can ignore me?. I thought, my amusement turning to something darker. I wanted to punish her for this little stunt, for pretending not to see me, for thinking she could escape my notice. I was impressed by her spirit, this boldness, but at the same time, I needed to teach her a lesson. She needed to understand who she was dealing with. I don't take kindly to being ignored, especially by my mate. A grin spread across my face as I thought about what I could do to make her realize her mistake. I watched her disappear into the wing, my gaze fixed on her until she was out of sight. You can't hide from me, Evelyn, I thought to myself. You're mine, and I'll make sure you know it soon enough. The idea of her defiance, her bravery, it was almost endearing. Almost. But that didn't change the fact that she needed to learn. I would teach her that she can't just walk away from me like that, pretend that I don't exist. No, she needed to understand the consequences of such actions, and I was more than ready to show her. As soon as she disappeared from my sight, I made my way to my own class. I pushed the door open and saw Liam and Sebastian already waiting for me inside. "So, did you two do what I asked?" I asked them, keeping my voice low but firm. "Yeah, we did," Liam replied, a slight grin on his face. "Unfortunately, your mate doesn't have a single class without her friends. She's always with them." I felt a flicker of annoyance but kept my face blank. "And you?" I turned to Sebastian. "I've compelled the principal," Sebastian nodded. "Everything is ready whenever you decide. "Good," I muttered. Liam raised an eyebrow at me, clearly curious. "Now, what are you going to do?" he asked. A slow smile crept across my lips. "If she doesn't have a single class without her friends," I said coldly, "then we'll just have to join her with her friends. What's the problem with that?" They both exchanged looks, trying to read my thoughts. I leaned back in my chair, the plan forming in my mind. "Just wait. You'll see," I added.
