Xavier’s Perspective

"You dare to go behind your queen and king," I growled, feeling the familiar rush of power as my vampire side began to take over. My fangs extended from my mouth, sharp and ready to tear into flesh. The fool in front of me trembled, his eyes wide with fear. "No, my prince, have mercy on me. It was a mistake to kill one of the humans," he whimpered, throwing himself at my feet and begging for forgiveness. A cold laugh escaped my lips as I looked down at him. Pathetic. Did he really think he could defy us and then crawl back, hoping for mercy? I reached down and grabbed him by the neck, lifting him off the ground with ease. He was nothing to me, a weakling who dared to challenge the royal decree. I brought his face closer to mine, glaring into his eyes. "I will show you and all the others your true worth," I hissed. "When your royals command you to do something or to refrain from doing something, you better obey. There are consequences for disobedience." Without another word, I bared my fangs and plunged them into his throat. The taste of his blood flooded my senses, rich and intoxicating. He gasped and struggled in my grip, but it was futile. His strength was nothing compared to mine. I drank deeply, savouring the taste of his fear and the life draining from his body. His skin grew paler by the second, his eyes rolling back as the last of his life force left him. His body went limp in my grasp, and I finally let him drop to the ground. He fell with a dull thud, his lifeless form crumpling at my feet. I wiped the blood from my lips, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over me. This was the fate of anyone who dared to cross us. The others would see this and know that I meant every word I said. The prince's wrath was not something to be taken lightly. I glanced down at the corpse one last time before turning away. He had gotten what he deserved. As I ran away from the scene, I felt no remorse, only the cold, relentless satisfaction of justice served. Yes, I'm Xavier Luciano, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth and King William, and this is my life. I'm 21 years old, born a vampire because my parents are the royalty of all vampires in our realm. We vampires live in a dark world where the sun never rises like it does in the human world. We can't survive in sunlight. It's deadly for us. I have a younger brother, three years my junior. As the next in line for the throne, I have to handle all the duties and tasks my parents assign me. Today, I killed a vampire. He broke our rules by drinking from a human in their world. These f*****g idiots don't understand that we've established a rule one is allowed to drink from any human. They're only allowed to drink from animals. Only the royals, high in command, can drink human blood because they need more power. But these morons just can't f*****g get it. After killing that guy, I went straight to Van Zandt Estate, where I live with my parents and brother. As I entered the castle, the slaves bowed down to me, saying "Long live Prince Xavier." I ignored them and hurried straight to my chamber. When I got inside my room, I f*****g saw my s*x slave lying on my bed, wearing a black silk gown. "My prince, I was just waiting for you," she purred in her seductive voice. "Get the f**k out of my chamber, Ava. I'm not in the mood," I snapped, removing my blood-stained shirt. "My name isn't Ava; it's Jennifer, my prince," she corrected. I don't f*****g care about your name. "Get out of my sight," I growled, heading into the bathroom. "Stupid b***h," I muttered under my breath. This stupid Jennifer is always clinging to me, desperate to become the queen of all vampires and my chosen mate. She's the daughter of someone from high authority, and my mother wants me to accept her as my mate. But that's never going to happen. I'd never claim a girl like her, one who spreads her legs for anyone. After showering, I put on fresh clothes and returned to my room. Thankfully, she was gone. I grabbed my phone and checked the time, 6 p.m. I had five hours until college started. You're probably wondering why I have college at night. Well, I hate this stupid lifestyle where I'm only expected to rule our people. It's all too simple, too dull. No vampire here is educated, and everything around here is boring. I convinced my father to let me stay in the human world and study there. He finally agreed by compelling the owner of the most prestigious college to open night classes for vampires. When the college was under construction, my father met the owner and compelled him to open the college for vampires at night, as daytime wasn't suitable for us. To avoid making humans suspicious, he also opened the college at night for scholarship students and vampires. The college is divided into different wings, East and West. The West Wing is for vampires, and the East Wing is for humans. We aren't allowed to cross into each other's wings, as it's strictly prohibited by my father, who instructed the principal to enforce this. Only the principal knows about our kind. But I don't give a f**k. As the prince, I don't care about rules. I've crossed into the human wing many times to quench my thirst, and I'll do it again if I feel like it. After getting dressed and ready, I decided it was time to go see my parents. I made my way through the winding corridors of Van Zandt Estate, passing by countless portraits of my ancestors. The castle was as cold and intimidating as ever, with high ceilings and dark stone walls that echoed with everv step I took. As I approached the grand doors to the throne room, two guards stepped aside, bowing their heads as they opened the doors for me. Inside, my parents were seated on their thrones, my mother, Queen Elizabeth, looking as regal as ever in her dark gown, and my father, King William, with his usual stern expression. My brother, Theodore, stood beside my father, looking more like a younger version of him every day. "Xavier," my mother greeted with a smile, though there was a hint of something more in her eyes, concern, maybe. "We were just discussing you” " Of course you were," I muttered, striding forward and bowing slightly as protocol demanded. "Father, Mother, Theodore." "Brother," Theodore nodded, his eyes sharp and calculating as always. "How are you feeling today, son?" my father asked, his tone deceptively mild. He was never one to waste words. "Fine, Father. I am just handling the tasks you've assigned to me” "And speaking of tasks," my mother interjected "how did things go with that vampire who broke our rules? The one who dared to drink from a human?" I felt a smirk tug at my lips. “Handled. He won't be disobeying any more rules, I can assure you” "Good," my father nodded, his approval subtle but clear. "You did well, Xavier. But remember, these tasks are just the beginning. There are greater responsibilities awaiting you." "Father, I'm well aware of my responsibilities," I replied, trying to keep the frustration out of my voice. "I've been preparing for this all my life." "Not well enough," he countered, his voice firm. "You're next in line to rule. Soon, you'll take over everything, and that means focusing more on your royal duties. You must be ready, Xavier. This isn't something you can take lightly. "I don't take it lightly," I argued, meeting his gaze directly. "But I also need time to... live. To experience more than just ruling. I'm not a puppet to be pulled by strings." My father's eyes narrowed slightly, but before he could respond, my mother spoke up, her voice soft but insistent. "And what about finding a queen, Xavier? You need someone to rule by your side. Someone like Jennifer. She would make a strong mate for you." I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest. "Jennifer? That woman is nothing but a leech, and I have no interest in her. I'll choose my own mate when I'm ready, and it won't be someone who's just trying to climb the ladder of power. "Xavier," my mother's voice sharpened, a rare sign of her temper. "You can't run from this forever. You need a queen, and you need to take your duties seriously" I clenched my jaw, feeling the familiar tension rise within me. "I'll handle my duties in my own way, on my own time. I'm not going to be forced into something I don't want” "Run, as always!" my mother suddenly shouted, her eyes flashing with anger. "Run and avoid your duties by going to that stupid college and mingling with humans. But I'll see how long you can keep avoiding your responsibilities. You can't run forever, Xavier!" I didn't respond. Instead, I turned on my heel and strode out of the throne room, ignoring the echo of her words behind me. As the doors closed with a heavy thud, I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding. This was my life, constantly being pushed, prodded, and pressured to conform to their expectations. But I wasn't going to be trapped in this role, not yet. I needed space, time, and the freedom to choose my own path. I'd take on my responsibilities when I was ready, but for now, I had other things to focus on. Like that college, that other world where I could blend in, even if just for a little while. I knew my parents didn't understand it, but I didn't care. As I made my way back to my chamber, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to change soon. I wasn't sure what, but I knew one thing for sure, I wasn't done fighting for my own life. As soon as I was out of sight of the castle, I picked up speed, my body moving faster than any human eye could track. The dark world around me blurred into streaks of shadow and light as I headed toward the edge of our realm. The forest loomed ahead, dense and ancient, the perfect place for me to cast the teleportation spell that would take me to the human world. I stopped just before entering the thick of the trees, taking a moment to centre myself. The teleportation spell wasn't complicated, but it required focus, and I was still seething from the argument with my parents. I pushed those thoughts aside, concentrating on the incantation. With a low, guttural whisper, I invoked the spell, feeling the familiar pull of magic wrap around me. In an instant, the world shifted, and the dark forest of the vampire realm vanished. When I reappeared, I was standing in a forest on the outskirts of the human world, just a few miles from the college. The smell of fresh earth and pine filled my senses, a stark contrast to the cold, damp air of my home. I didn't waste any time, though. I took off at full speed, my feet barely touching the ground as I sprinted toward the college. The landscape blurred around me, and within minutes, I reached the west wing of the campus, where the vampires attended classes. As I approached the entrance, I slowed down, smoothing my clothes and running a hand through my hair. I didn't want to look like I'd just sprinted across half a country, after all. I pushed open the heavy door and stepped inside, immediately spotting my friends, Liam and Sebastian, lounging near the lockers. "Xavier!" Liam called out, grinning as he saw me. "Finally decided to show up?" I smirked as I walked over to them. "Had some family business to take care of. You know how it is." Sebastian chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah, I heard about it. Another i***t trying to break the rules?" "Something like that," I said, my tone casual. "Let's just say he won't be breaking any more rules." Liam whistled low. "Man, you've got all the fun. We're stuck here listening to Mr. Harrison drone on about vampire history." Sebastian rolled his eyes. "And don't even get me started on the blood supply lectures. Like we don't know how to feed ourselves." In this college, we study some subjects that they teach humans, and some are related to vampire stuff. As per my father instructions "Speaking of which," I said, lowering my voice slightly "I could use a drink myself. It's been a long day." "We'll figure something out after class," Liam replied with a nod. "Just try to hang in there until then." With a sigh, I followed them into the classroom. The room was dimly lit, the walls lined with ancient books and scrolls detailing centuries of vampire history. Mr. Harrison, a stern-looking vampire with greying hair and a deep frown etched into his face, was already at the front of the room, lecturing about some ancient vampire law that I couldn't care less about. I took my seat, trying to focus on the lesson, but it didn't take long for boredom to set in. My mind kept drifting back to the argument with my parents, to the weight of the responsibilities they kept shoving at me. My body felt tense, restless, and the thirst for blood was only making it worse. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I stood up abruptly, catching the attention of a few of my classmates, but I ignored them. Mr. Harrison stopped mid-sentence, his eyes narrowing at me. "Prince Xavier," he said in that disapproving tone that all teachers seemed to master "is there a reason you're interrupting my class?" "Yeah," I muttered "I need some air." Without waiting for his response, I turned and walked out of the classroom, letting the door slam shut behind me. The hallway outside was almost completely dark, with only a few dim lights flickering overhead. The stillness of the corridor only heightened my need to feed, my senses sharpening as I considered making a quick trip to the east wing where the humans were. But before I could even move, I caught sight of someone in the hallway ahead. A figure, standing still at the entrance of the west wing. I froze, narrowing my eyes as I tried to make out who it was. I was supposed to be alone in this wing; no one should be here at this time as the classes were happening. I took a cautious step forward, the sound of my footsteps echoing slightly in the silent corridor. The figure didn't move, but I could sense something off, something different about this person. My instincts kicked in, my fangs slightly extending as I prepared for whatever might happen next. Whoever this was, they were about to get a taste of what happens when you cross paths with a vampire in need of blood.
