The gift Daddy lost turned out to be an iTunes gift card, which had somehow worked its way into one of the books Papa bought for me. Daddy thought I had found the gift card and taken it, for whatever reason, like I would’ve done that. When he couldn’t find it, he went out and bought another one and tucked it into my stocking, while the first gift card got wrapped up in the book. On Christmas day, we found both gift cards only after all the presents were unwrapped, and Papa and Daddy had a good laugh about it—I did, too, up until the moment when they took one of the gift cards away. So I know there’s no way it’s really Santa Claus standing in our living room with Daddy, but I can’t tell Alex that. He still thinks Santa’s real, and I promised I wouldn’t be the one to break the news to him.
