The next day brought us into Tasnin. Traveling performers were in town, passing through, but Lith had worked with their troupe before and it wasn’t hard to buy two horses from their stock. Lith was enraged at having to purchase the steeds—she thought they should be given to us, since she knew the performers, but Tasnin was a rich town and there were no free lunches to be had within its walls. That night, however, Lith showed me her secret…one of many. “Watch,” she said, pulling the hood of her cloak over her head. She promptly disappeared.
