I made it to the store at two o’clock on Monday afternoon. “There he is,” Evan greeted me from behind the counter. Chuck hovered nearby, having been put to work on restocking picks, guitar slides, and cables. No groupies were present at the moment. “Here I am,” I said, waving in greeting to Chuck as I passed by. “Feeling better?” Evan asked. “Much, thanks.” “Laramie told me what happened. I’m so happy he was there. I wish you would take those sleeping pills.” “You know I don’t like how they make me feel, and I don’t want to become dependent on them. I make do, all right?
