It took me until ten o’clock that night to make the call, once I remembered where I’d placed Laramie’s business card. “Hello?” I heard the sound of voices in the background. “It’s Dorian.” A slight hesitation, then, “You actually called.” “I was described as a dickless wonder by a friend today, so I’m proving him wrong.” He didn’t respond. “Okay, so I called like you wanted. What’s next?” I asked. “Can I come over to your place?” “Why?” “I want to talk to you face to face.” “Why not on the phone?” “Please, Dorian. Just do this one thing for me. Then I swear I’ll leave you alone after this, if that’s what you want.” I sighed. “Fine. I might fall asleep on you, though. I’m really exhausted, Laramie.” “I understand.
