Chapter 4: Rosella's Luck

1094 Words
Rosella's pov I groaned as I woke up. I had a terrible head ache because I had been crying for hours last night. I had been crying continuously and all those memories with dad flooded my mind. We were so happy and when my father was alive, I wouldn't have to work. He didn't leave a large fortune for us so I had to start working to make ends meet. My mom is the one whom I work so hard for. She is my world now. I got dressed in a white top with jeans and tied my hair in a bun. I prepared breakfast for my mother and I. I felt like I should get another job, preferably in a company. Amanda got a job so I should try too. I was free anyways during the day. Even though Louis paid me well but I needed to secure the future for mom, God forbid something happened to me. My mind wandered off as I thought about that handsome stranger I met yesterday. My chain of thoughts were broken when my phone rang and it was Amanda calling. "Hi Amy, how's the first day of work going?" "Amazing! However, I miss you. The people here remind me of snakes urgh. You know what? There's an empty position for the finance manager, you should definitely try. You were a top student throughout college and university. You'd be fit for this job and I already recommended your name to my boss." "Seriously? You wouldn't believe this but I was just thinking about applying to other companies. You're a life saver. I'll apply as soon as possible." "I know I am amazing. Thank me over dinner, I'll come meet you at the diner." "Sure, dinner is on me." "Well, I have to hang up now. My lunch break is almost over. Love ya." She hanged up and I was hyped. I have always been good at managing finances and if I would bag this job, not only would I be close to Amy but also receiving a high pay. I finished my CV and had my fingers crossed. I didn't tell my mother just yet. The job wasn't confirmed and moreover, I wanted it to be a surprise for her. I made the way to the diner. The diner was relatively small and had twenty to thirty customers each day. "Hi Rosie, you look extra cute today." That was Brandon. He always compliments me and I guess that is how he is with every other friend. Before I could thank him, Louis called me. "Table 5 is requesting for you." I grabbed my apron and notebook as I made my way towards the table. Two men were seated and they were suited up. We rarely had business men at our diner. "Hello Sir, what can I get for you?" They both looked up. Those charming eyes, that stubble. Oh God, this is the handsome stranger! Am I dreaming? Someone pinch me. He was very kind to give those red roses to me and I was so rude, I didn't even thank him. "Hi Rosella, I am Adam and you can call me by my name. This is Dylan, my friend." Wait, how does he know my name. Of course, my name tag. How silly of me. "Hi! You're the guy from the florist shop yesterday. Thank you so much. It means a lot me si- I mean Adam." I spoke with a huge smile on my face. "I am glad you remember me. We would like two cups of coffee." I quickly came to the kitchen and prepared two cups of coffee for them. "Here you go Adam and Dylan." I gave them their cups and was about to walk away. "Rosella, stay. Tell me about yourself." Adam asked me. "What about me?" I asked, continuing our conversation. "Well you can tell me about your family, your likes and your dislikes." He spoke in a friendly manner. I thought for a minute and then I spoke. "Um I don't have any siblings. My dad passed away and I love my mom and my best friend. I love vanilla ice cream and I love to bake brownies. Don't laugh at me but I am scared of cats. I love pepperoni pizza and I love pink. I love this diner but I think I might need a new job so I am going to apply for jobs-" I kept blabbering about myself and when I was done, I saw Adam looking at me and listening very attentively whereas Dylan was looking at Adam. Both men sipped their coffee and both seemed very pleased. "That was the tastiest coffee I have ever had. And about the job, would you like to work for me Rosella?" He questioned. I stood there shocked. He stood up from his place and walked over to me. My heart raced as he was very close to me. "Here's my business card and keep the change." And then he walked away with his friend. A hundred dollar bill for two coffees? Woah. Adam was very intimidating. There was something about him that really attracted me towards him. "There are rumours about him that he is cold, arrogant, heartless and even gay. Maybe the other guy was his boyfriend." Layla commented. "Maybe but come on Layla. It's not right to judge someone without knowing them." I defended because Adam has always been so nice to me and my heart refused to believe that Adam was cold and arrogant. I was just staring at that bill when Brandon walked up to me and said "Did you know Adam Costello, the CEO of Costello Group of Companies was at our diner and just left a few seconds ago?" Realisation dawned upon me and I hurriedly looked at the business card he had handed me over. I had just served The. Adam. Costello. To top that, he offered me a job. Not only that but I blabbered to him about myself like a complete i***t. "Ella, why are you so shocked like you've just seen a ghost?" I heard Amanda. All these events and I had almost forgotten about her. "Thank God, you're here. I am so happy to see you." I rushed to Amanda and narrated everything that happened today. She laughed at me for blabbering and encouraged me to take up the job. Costello Group of Companies was on #1. But I was hesitant to take up the offer because of Adam. What did I get myself into?
