Chapter 13

- Eric William Miller  - I arrived at the coffee shop just on time. I entered the shop and looked around to find Lily. She was sitting at the corner of the shop drinking coffee. I found myself at peace whenever I met her. I don’t know why but when she was around me I felt calm and peaceful. If I met her before Sophia, I wouldn’t think twice to build a family with her. I walked toward the table and took a seat across from her.  “Hi” I said while un-bottoming my suit.  “Hi” she murmured quietly.  “Sorry for keeping you waiting,” I said, observing cautiously.  She looked so innocent with her white blouse yet her glance was full of questions and staring at me.  “Stop staring at me. I know I’m handsome and hot,” I said, tapping on the table.  “You are unbelievable, how did you ruin the plan?” she asked full of frustration.  I didn’t answer her yet and called the waiter first. When the waiter came I ordered a cup of coffee.   “Two cups of coffee, please” she stopped the waiter before he proceeded my order.  “No, only one cup, now go and get now,” I said to the waiter and he quickly went to proceed my order.  She looked so angry and I found that amazing for me. “Why did you cancel my order?” she said.  “You just finished your coffee, one is enough,” I said, pointing to her coffee cup. She looked at her coffee cup and about to argue me back but she stopped somehow. I was satisfied by how she didn’t argue me back. While my coffee was delivering, she said “you didn’t answer my first question yet”.    I took a sip of coffee first and then told her “for your question, I don’t have an answer”. After she heard it she was more frustrated and she looked angry at me. “You literally ruin the plan and now you tell me no explanation. Not only you ruin the plan you are ruining my life too,” she firmly stated how she felt about my action. She raised her voice a little so that she could let me know she was angry at me.  I knew I acted on only the way I wanted but I was mad about the way she talked to me. No one could raise their voice like that to me. I’m the one who took control of the people around me. I looked at her darkly and told her “never raise your voice like that to me again.” She was taken back because of my words. She looked startled for a moment and then she tried to maintain her calm face again. “Look, I don’t want to agree on mom’s plan too but I don’t have any choice,” I said.  “Look, mister! I know you have a girlfriend, why don’t you just marry her,” she sarcastically said. I was surprised by her question. In my mind I was asking myself, How did she know about Sophia? Did she also know we broke up? “It’s none of your business. Anyway from my side I cannot do anything. And you need to give up and agree to marry me too,” I said. I needed her in order to take revenge on Sophia. I needed to show Sophia and make her come back to me.
