Bobby had indeed arrived on the castle grounds just in time to see the beast take pity on Gary and spare his life. He had watched in horror as Gary took advantage of the situation and murdered the beast with his sword.
Bobby had screamed, but the beast hadn't heard his voice above the din of the crowd. Bobby fought his way through them and ran into the castle. He took the steps on the grand staircase two at a time. He ran down the corridor and onto the balcony.
