CHAPTER TEN
Patrick’s den became his office, where he moved a fax machine and copier into cabinets he had specifically built. He also bought a new computer, something more powerful than his laptop – which he still preferred for most of his work. He also selected a new maid and hired another cook. Lily had opted for a cleaning service in the last few months, but since he planned on being home more often, he wanted a traditional household and a complete staff to have it functioning smoothly. He also dispensed with the lawn service, since he wasn’t happy with the way they kept the shrubs pruned, and in place of them he hired a groundskeeper and handyman, who just happened to have a degree in computer science, which would come in handy if his computers broke down.
