Chase Atlantic- Triggered     There are no visitors in my dreams today. The one thing that is familiar this time is that I woke up at home, in my bed. I got up and walked out of the room. I can hear voices from the library. The door is slightly ajar and as I get closer the voices became clearer. Silas, my dad, my mother, and Matilda.      "This girl was never supposed to be here with you. You went after something that shouldn't be part of this world and you turned it into something pathetic. The best thing that could have happened is for them to take what is there's back. This girl is going to be a problem for us in the long run. The Supernatural Clans are looking for a savior and you've nurtured it for them," Matilda shouted at my dad.      "That's not what this is," dad shook his head. "What it ever was. We've made peace with these people. I trusted her father and he trusted me with the most precious thing he had. That boy is suffering. I should have told him. It just wasn't safe for her then,"      "Why do you care about her safety so much?" Matilda demanded.      "She's our daughter," my parents argued, together.      "She isn't your daughter," Matilda countered. "She's not only one of them. She's the one that ends us all,"      "No, my sister doesn't have the capacity to harm anyone. I know her better than I know myself. Even after her transition, she's still going to be Tobi Bourne. The only difference is that she'll need a bloody mary or two every other week," Silas smirked. I laughed.      "She won't be your sister. You've seen what those monsters can do," Matilda continued.      "Didn't think you'd be able to do this on your own yet," I jumped away from the close proximity of the voice.     "Godrick," I panted, breathlessly. A part of me is really happy to see him and the rational part is scared because of what I saw the Sterling twins do.     "What did you go to bed thinking of?" he asked.     "Silas asked me to call him if I needed him and I didn't," I mumbled, before looking over at Silas.      "Did you need him?" he asked. I looked at Godrick and then over at my brother and nodded. "Did something happen?"      "Zachariah Sterling is kind of crazy. He... they umm. We were having dinner and he came in uninvited he got Elijah worked up and I saw their eyes." I motioned my face. He smirked.      "Yeah, those two have been at each other's throat since they chose their Clan,"      "Why do they have to? Why don't we?" I asked. He smiled looking into the library where my family continued to argue.      "Our bloodline on our mother's side, they were all night stalkers. Mom got pregnant with me when she was seventeen before her transition. Your dad was her other half. Remember Makhai?"      "I remember," I nodded. It's hard to forget anything anyone is telling me as we move forward.     "Her transition almost killed her. By then she had developed most of her powers. I started getting mine when I was eighteen. I would touch people and I'd get a glimpse into their emotions. I'd feel what they felt. Truly felt. It could be a graze or a handshake,"      "Or a punch," I chuckled, looking at Silas.      "Yeah," he smiled. "I could have hurt him. I didn't because he loves you and if he can feel that for you I can't imagine what you feel for him,"      "Does it bother you?" I asked looking back at him and he smiled.      "No. I feel a little ripped off," we both laughed. "But I'm glad you've received that kind of love. Even if it wasn't from me,"     "I wanted to ask you if you can tell them to back off," right to the point. I wanted to see him anyway. He sighed walking deeper into the library. I followed. Matilda kept telling them that I wasn't what they want me to be or who I am to them. That they have to let me go.      "I want to give you everything you want, Amelia. Everything because I want to see that smile on your face all the time, but this woman is not safe for you to be around. Until we can get rid of her I'd like for you to stay with Cassidy. She's a great girl. Her family keeps her safe. You'll be safe with them,"      "What about you? Can I be with you?" I asked. His smile is distant now. Sad.      "Did you see the way people clear the room for me?" he asked and I nodded. "Our family, we're kind of like royalty to the Clans. The direct descendants from the Titans. Old Gods. Not just on your father's but our mother's side. Legends say that as Lockwoods we are Children of Phoebe daughter of mother earth and father sky. As Phantom, we are children of Hyperion. Never claimed by the gods forced to walk the earth for eternity.      "When humans came to be and began to breed, the gods developed their way to feed on them, hope or prayers, fear. Our development came from one another. We learned to take from each other rather than rely on something else. Which is why we feed on each other. The sons and daughters of Pheobe began to breed with one another. Each offspring more divine than the last and it went on for thousands of years. Same with the children of Hyperion.      "When humanity took the earth we discovered that not only can we make our own servants but that we weren't the only ones here. The others began to breed with humans and the divinity of their blood lost its strength. Descendants of Pheobe were chosen as the leaders. A war started when the children of Hyperion claimed to be just as divine and everyone chose their side and picked their ends of the earth.     "When the epidemic in Bulgaria began the dynasties were untied and the Clans were created. Two kings and two queens until our parents became one. No one want's one person to have all of that power so they did the one thing they think they can get away with. I'm trying to figure out who initiated this,"      "So it's not safe to be around you either," I said waving my hand in front of Silas's face. My hand went right through the center of his head. "Will you let me know when it'll be safe to be around them again?"      "You have two months until you transcend," he announced. "Then no one can tell you what you can and can't do. You'll be able to come with me or go back to them,"      "How do you know that?" I asked.     "I might be a stranger right now, but we are siblings. There is a connection between us. Especially now that we've come in contact,"      "You never held me?" I asked. "When I was born?"      "No," he said shaking his head. "Mom only got a few minutes before you were taken away,"      "What are we doing here?"      "This is called an in-between dream. It's a place your mind takes you when you want to be alone,"      "So why are you here?" I asked. He laughed.      "You called me here," he said. I watched as Matilda stormed out of the library angrily.     "Because I really wanted to talk to you,"      "Exactly,"      "If I wanted to talk to him?"      "You'd come here and wait until he's asleep. All you have to do is think about the person. If you're brought here, you have to wake up when the person who brought you here does or before,"      "What happens if you don't?"      "You're stuck here until they come back,"     "I've been here every night since Elijah Sterling brought me here the night I found out about all of this,"     "What is it about that f*****g guy?" he growled looking away. I bit my lip to keep myself from laughing.     "She's not into him," I said walking with Silas.     "Are you?" he asked.      "It's hard to say. I think he's pretty," I admitted. He laughed.      "You have no filter do you?"      "I do. I just don't want to lie or sugarcoat things. I treat people the same way I want to be treated,"      "That's a good philosophy," he said.      "Silas," I turned to see my dad call after my brother. "She's not right. That woman, she lost a lot to the Lockwoods and the Phantoms. She doesn't see anything outside herself anymore. Amelia is part of our family,"      "But?" Silas and I asked at the same time. Dad ran his hands through his hair and let out a long sigh.      "But if it ever comes to it. I wouldn't choose her. I'd choose you. You are my son. Should something happen to me, you have the responsibility to stand where I do now. She's one girl, we have two point nine thousand lives to look out for. That's what I want you and Amelia to understand. She gets it. That's why she is where she is now,"      "I don't know if I can put aside my emotions like that dad. Tobi is... she's a part of who I am. I love her. She's my little sister. I'd do anything for her. You have no idea what it's like to have to be okay with the fact that she's with those... I just want her home. Fangs or no fangs dad. She belongs with us,"      "I know. She's trusted us. I think it's time we start trusting her,"      "She's different now. What happened when we were taken. It did something to her. It isn't fear dad. I can't explain it but I see it. I feel it." I've never heard Silas speak that. Dad nodded.      "She'll be fine. She'll need that with what's to come," my dad patted him on his shoulder and walked off. I rolled up my sleeves feeling a bit warm. Godrick looked down at my arm.      "Where are you?" he asked.      "That French Apartment Building on Main street,"      "I know that. I mean are you close to a heat vent? Are your blankets thick?" he asked. I shook my head.      "No, Cassidy was shaken up after Zach so I asked her if she could stay with me,"      "Listen to me. You need to wake up and call him,"      "Him?"      "Zachariah Sterling. She needs him,"      "What's happening?"      "She's transitioning," he disappeared. I rushed back to my bed and climbed in shutting my eyes.      My entire left side is burning. I sat up taking the covers off of me and Cassidy to see her curled into a ball. I shot up going to the lights looking around the room for her phone. I picked it up swiping the screen to be relieved to find that she didn't lock it. I scrolled through her contact and found the name. I hesitated until Cassidy moaned. I pressed the call button.      "Hey," he answered. I had never heard him use that tone before. "I'm sorry about tonight,"      "Zach something is happening to her,"     "I'm on my way," was all I got before the line went dead.      "Zach?" she whispered in her sleep. I looked around the room for the button Alice had given me and found it where I had left it when I finished unpacking. No less than a second later she was in my room.      "My lady?" she asked.      "Sorry to wake you. She's burning up. I called her brother he said he's on his way. Can you get me something to help her?" she nodded and disappeared. She returned with a ziplock bag filled with ice and a hand towel. I wrapped the ice in the towel and pressed it to her forehead.  "That won't be of much use my lady. She's transcending," Alice informed.      "I know I just don't know what else to do," I shrugged.     "You're freezing," she said getting up. She handed me a pair of socks and my hoodie. "If you don't mind, Lady Anastasia. Perhaps you should go and make sure her brother makes it up here,"      "Right," I nodded, grabbing my shoes and my keys. I rushed out of the apartment and ran down the hall towards the elevator.      "She needs me," I heard Zach shout.      "She doesn't need you to be f*****g with her head right now. Listen to me, brother. We don't know when she..."      "You need to let him go," I shouted, stopping behind them. "I don't know what's happening but I was told she needs him. She's burning up,"      "Go," Elijah agreed, letting him go.      "Where?" he asked desperately.      "My room. When you walk in go right. Second door to the left," he was gone. I started to run back but he stopped me.      "You don't want to see that," Elijah sighed, putting his hand up to stop me.      "What's going to happen to her?"      "Her fangs are ripping through her. Only his blood can soothe her pain,"      "Why his? I thought any male would do,"      "Typically, yes," he nodded, motioning me to the elevator. "Do you know about Greek mythology?"      "Are you talking about Makhai?" I asked. He smiled, probably impressed. I guess I have Godrick to thank for that.      "Yeah. She's Zachariah's Makhai,"      "But they're brother and sister," I chuckled, unsure of it now.      "Yeah," he nodded. "Our laws are different from human laws. We were born of the old world. Our religions and morals are different from this time. We don't mean to be beasts. It just always works out that way,"      "I don't know what to say," I admitted, looking down at the key pods in my hand.      "Makhai is very rare in our world. Most of us are paired off with whom our parents choose. A partnership if you may. When it happens we can't stay away. It's more than a need. It's kind of like hunger or addiction. Something you can try to fight but will always succumb to in the end,"      "He fought it?" I asked I jumped when the elevator opened.      "He did. Only because she wasn't ready. Come, I like to eat chicken nuggets when I can't sleep," he smirked. I laughed. "What?"      "Nothing, I like doing that too," I can feel my face burning up while I follow him out. We walked to the Veyron. "The Veyron is yours?"      "Yeah, it was a gift from my father for getting into Med School," I laughed getting in when he unlocked it. "What's so funny?"      "My brother got one when he got into Med School as well," I shrugged.          "Did he not like it?"      "Yeah he did, does. He just always wanted an Aventador. Dad said he should buy his own when he became a doctor,"      "Analyse got hers as a birthday gift,"      "From her dad?" I asked. He shook his head.      "Her dad died a long time ago. She was seven at the time," he informed me, backing out of the parking space next to mine. "Your brother, Godrick got it for her,"      "Oh," I choked out a little embarrassed. "Do they know each other from before?"      "No, we didn't come across Godrick Lockwood until we relocated here. He runs one of the biggest transportation companies in Europe. He just recently invested this way," I looked out the window when we stopped at the front gate. "Do you mind?"      "What?" I asked. He looked at the gate. "Oh,"      "Thank you," he smiled politely when I pressed the button.      "You know don't you?" I asked looking at him.      "Yes, I do," he said.      "Why are you keeping her from him?"      "Oh, that," he laughed, shaking his head.      "What did you think I was talking about?" I asked. He smirked at me putting the car into gear. I yelped when the car shot forward and then laughed.      "I'm not keeping her from him. She's the one fighting it. When her father died my parents took her, her sisters, and her mother in. So that she wouldn't lose her father's company my dad took it under his. Since she is the firstborn and I am the firstborn son we were promised to one another. It wasn't until we moved here that she found him,"      "She feels indebted to your family," I noted, looking at him. He pulled into the drive-through.      "If anything we owe her. It's her name on the side of the building. Had it not been for her mother my dad's company would have gone under when Godrick took the lead in transportation. You should be proud of him. He's self-made. Didn't take a single cent out of the Lockwood fortune outside of his trust fund,"      "I can't get a read on him," I admitted.     "What do you want?"      "It's hard to figure that out when I'm not in control," I answered. He laughed.      "I meant food, troublesome girl," my face flared with embarrassment.      "Wow, yeah," I tried to stop laughing. "A ten piecemeal, medium,"      "Drink?" he asked after he repeated my order to the speaker.      "Sweet tea,"     "Sause?"      "Hot Mustard,"  I shrugged. He smirked and pulled up behind the car in front of us.      "You and Analyse are going to be great friends. Lockwood is going to have his hands full,"      "It's hard to believe that she and I have anything in common,"      "Why?" he asked looking at me. I shrugged. He handed the woman at the window a twenty. "You have to answer me now. I am genuinely curious,"      "I don't know," I sighed, looking out the window. I don't want to have anything in common with her. I actually kind of just want to hate her for some reason.      "Here," he said handing me a paper bag and then a cupholder with our drinks. "No eating in my car. My dad bought this for me,"      "Okay," I laughed.      "Have you slept at all?" he asked. I nodded.      "We went to bed a little early. I woke up when it got really hot,"      "Good, 'cause you're going to my place tonight. Your rose is waiting to meet you. You can borrow some clothes from my sister Rylee,"      "How many siblings do you have?"      "Four. Three sisters and Zach,"      "Cas is the youngest?"      "Yes, ma'am,"      "My sister Raven is after my brother and me. Then there's Rylee, and then Cass."     "Raven," I repeated. "Raven Sterling. The Raven Sterling who innovated antibiotics in twenty fourteen?"      "Yeah," he nodded. "The one and only,"     "Wow. That... wow," the fact that I can see everything so much clearer tells me that my eyes are wide open.      "I'm glad you like her because she's here," he laughed, taking the drinks from me.
