Ominous dark clouds hung heavy over the Raft and the twilight sky took on a blood red hue as the sun’s rays stabbed westwards. Gideon turned his back on the sight; the dying light held no beauty for him, only fear that the coming darkness would bring more nightmares. An image of Warwick’s blood sprayed across his gleaming armour reared itself in his mind. Now when he closed his eyes, he never knew whose turn it would be to haunt him, Isolde, the Khalifas, Warwick, even Jakub. The thought of his childhood friend-turned-traitor sent him spiralling into a renewed sense of despair. Miss Burnett, the children at the home, he had no way of knowing if they were safe, or even alive, as the chaos caused by Kroll and the people’s fight back took hold of the nation.
