Felicity had no choice but to come clean to her mother. At least about the Levi situation, leaving out the fact that it's all an act. She hung up with Helen and began to pack a suitcase of clothes and other things she would be taking to the penthouse. Levi offered to pay her rent every month she would be staying in the penthouse so she wouldn't have to lose her apartment. She loaded her car up and drove to the building.
Levi was there to greet her and help her get her suitcase out of the car. “I can't allow the pregnant lady to heft this suitcase up to the place."
Her heart fluttered at those words. Something about the way he said that reminded her of Marco. “Thank you."
“It's me who should be thanking you. I know how much you're giving up for a while to work for me." He winked at her.
Felicity smiled and followed Levi up to the penthouse she chose and entered the place. There was a stunning view of Downtown LA and the ocean in the distance. The penthouse was stunning with the views, the luxury furniture, the black marble floor with rose gold accents. It was easily the most feminine one she could find. She still missed her cozy little, two-bedroom place, and was grateful he made it possible for her to keep it. The gesture warmed her heart in a way she wasn't ready for, but couldn't fight it all the same.
“I see the refrigerator is finally installed." She pointed out to break the awkward silence.
“Everything was installed as of yesterday. She's finally finished and ready for you."
“It's amazing, Levi."
“Glad you like it. As I said, if you ever need anything, you let me know. I'm going to have your dress sent here tonight for dinner tomorrow night. My parents have a bit of a dress code."
“Speaking of parents, your public proclamation has sold me out to mine. My mom called me this morning to call my a*s out on seeing someone when I swore, I wouldn't have after losing my husband."
Levi cringed, “Sh*t, I didn't even think about that. I'm sorry."
Felicity shrugged, “it is what it is. I didn't think they would find out anyway as they don't pay attention to tabloids, but then you gave the public my name and my dad couldn't exactly bring himself to ignore that."
“Maybe you and I need to sit down and be more organized about this. All the public knows is that I'm with a woman named Felicity and I love her."
Again, she had to remind herself that this wasn't real. She didn't realize how lonely she was until Levi full on ravished her the other day. What she wouldn't do to feel that again. She'd forgotten what it was like to be kissed, and the way Levi kissed was…no, no one was better than Marco. “You know we're going to have to face my parents now too."
Levi took a step closer to her as though it was the most natural thing in the world, “I'll be one hundred percent ready for that. Just as soon as we clear the obstacle with mine."
Felicity found herself taking a step closer to him, the question that had her literally puking gnawing at the tip of her tongue, “Is your dad going to try and force an abortion?"
Levi nipped his bottom lip and rubbed his five-o'clock shadow. “He might, but don't worry. I won't let that happen. You're working for me, not him, and you don't have to do anything you don't want to."
Felicity nodded. “Good, because I don't believe in abortion."
He smiled warmly at her, “I don't either."
Felicity turned to go sit on the couch. It was as comfy as it was lovely. She was surprised Levi sat down next to her. The warmth of his presence was alluring and it took some strength to hold herself back from curling up against him. “I decided that after all this, I'm going to give the baby up for adoption."
Levi rested his elbow against the back of the couch, his head resting on his hand, “You're not going to keep it?"
Felicity shook her head. “It's not Marco's. The plan was to raise his child. But I'll carry this pregnancy out and give it to someone who needs it."
He flashed a genuine smile and it sent a wave of affection for him through her. “That's a wonderful decision Felicity. If there's any way I can help with that, I will."
“That's very kind of you, Levi."
“I told you I would take care of you. If this is part of the package, I'm here for it."
“I just might count on you then."
“I hope you do. But because I'm going to be claiming this child for a while, I'll have to go to appointments with you. Is that okay?"
Felicity hadn't thought about him going with her to appointments, but it made sense why he would. “Oh, yeah of course it's okay."
“Good. If there's anything that makes you uncomfortable, you say the word."
“I trust you."
That made Levi smile a little too broadly. “So…dinner tomorrow night. We should hammer out some mutual details in order to give this some authenticity."
“Right, my friend asked me about it the other day and I panicked. I just told her that I would tell her later."
“I will say it, you were right, this hasn't been as thought through as it should be. I want to take today and fix that."
“Agreed. So, when did we meet?"
“I did say that it's been going on in secret for a while. You're good to ask that, it's exactly a question my mom is going to bring up tomorrow."
“Best let me ask you questions, and you answer them. I'll go with whatever answer you give."
“Sounds fair enough to me."
“Good, now when and how did we meet?"
Levi rubbed his chin in thought and licked his lips. “How does April twenty-fifth sound? It's nearly August so that puts some months behind us."
April twenty-fifth? Was he joking? That was the day she lost Marco.
