THERE WAS SOMETHING heavy on my chest. That was the first thing that I felt as I came around. I fought the darkness because it was getting depressing to be there. I thought I wouldn’t have to feel anything anymore, but as time went on, the quietness became loud and my deaf ears rang through the echo of the shadows. I kept hearing someone calling my name, urgently, gently, and desperately, so it wasn’t exactly peaceful. As I pulled myself from the darkness, it was the heaviness that stood out the most.
