The Woman The front bell rang, and Blitz answered it. I put my list away. Mr. Doyle Pike said, “Is Mrs. Spadros home today?” “I’m afraid —” “It’s all right, Blitz,” I called out, “you can let him in.” Silence, then, “Come in, sir.” I was positive Blitz was annoyed with me even before he knocked; his face only confirmed it. “And where would you like to receive your guest, Mrs. Spadros?” “Here, unless you wish to help me move to the parlor.” I heard the back door open and Amelia hurry through the hall.
