Chapter 3: No Means No

2071 Words
The cab dropped us off at the entrance of the club. Club Nector, is the name. I've never been here, but apparently it's the place to be. Marc paid the cab driver, and I went to walk to the end of the long line. Good thing it's the end of July, and hot as hell outside. At least I won't freeze while we wait. Before I could make it more than a step I was pulled back. I looked up at Marc with a frown. "We don't have to wait in line." He said. I gave Marc a confused look, but he just pulled Kendra and I to the front of the line. The bouncer looked at Marc, then to us. Marc gave him a nod, and the bouncer moved the red rope to let us in. "Have a good time." The bouncer said as we walked in. Marc ushered Kendra and I threw the door. "Who are you?" I asked Marc incredulously. "I come here a lot." He said. Yeah, too much apparently. Whatever, I walked arm in arm with Kendra into the club. The music is so loud, we can't hear each other at all. This place is buzzing with people. There is a large bar in the middle of the room. There's an upstairs that has VIP sections I guess. Even the ground floor has VIP sections. Wow, I never would have guessed that a loud club like this would have so much VIP sections. I wonder if they get used often. I mean, most of them are full right now, but it is Saturday. This place is completely crowded with people. Sweaty bodies grinding and dancing together. I started to relax a bit. "I'm going to get us drinks." Marc bent down to yell in our ears. Kendra grabbed my hand, and pulled me to the bar. We followed right behind Marc. I scanned the crowd of people as Marc ordered us drinks. "Shots!" Kendra shouted loud enough for me to hear. Shots? No, I hate shots. Kendra always gets me drunk with this. Before I could decline, Kendra shoved a shot glass my way. Reluctantly, I picked it up, we cheers'ed, and I downed it. I cringed as the alcohol warmed my throat. Then Marc slid a glass my way. I happily took it, and sipped through the straw. Ahh, fruity, and sweet. Just how I prefer to drink my alcohol. Thank god Marc is here. ********************************************* Thank god Marc is here my ass. Fucker has let Kendra get me nearly wasted. We've done seven shots, I've had eight drinks. Wait, Marc keeps getting me the drinks. He's helping get me drunk! "That fucker." I muttered. Not that anyone can hear me in this place. It's so loud. I like the music though. "Hey there." Came a voice right next to my ear. I nearly jumped out of my skin at the unfamiliar voice. Then arms circled around me. I shrugged out of the arms of the stranger, and turned around to face him. The stranger is a shorter man. I'm taller than him in my heels. No wonder his voice sounded so close to my ear. He has on jeans, and a white button down shirt. His light brown hair is swooped over to the side. He has light blue eyes. Honestly, the guy isn't bad looking at all, but I don't really like the way that he put his hands on me. I don't even know him, yet he was wrapping his arms around me like we're lovers. It creeped me out. This is the 21st century, you'd think the guy would be more of a gentleman. Ya know, ask my concent, maybe even show me his face before he put his hands on me like that. "No thanks." I finally replied to him. The guy stepped towards me. "Awh come on, just one drink." He said. I shook my head as I took a step back. The stranger took another step towards me. There is only so much space for me to keep stepping back in here. I looked around trying to find Marc or Kendra. Kendra just went to the bathroom. I knew I should have went with her. Damnit. And where the hell is Marc when I need him most? Finally I laid eyes on Marc. He's over in a VIP section. How the hell did he get over there? Then I saw the girl draping herself over him. Great, now I'm really not going to be saved. "Come one sweet cheeks. It's just a drink." The stranger said to me. "And I said no." I stated. I'm starting to get irritated with this guy. No means no. Take a damn hint dude. Who the hell does he think he is? "Don't be like that sweet cheeks." The guy said with a smile. Ugh, gross. He is radiating danger vibes. I need to get away from him. "Leave me alone." I said. I turned to walk away when the man grabbed my arm. All warning bells went off in my head. I need to get away from this guy. "Don't be rude bitch." He said in my ear. I could gag at the smell of his breath. "She said no you goon. Go harrass some other poor girl." Kendra said coming to my rescue. The man looked between the two of us before letting me go. "Whatever, f*****g cunts." He shouted as he walked away. I breathed out a sigh of relief. "Sorry babes. Let's go dance." Kendra said as she drug me to the dance floor. Kendra and I spent the next, what felt like hours, dancing. I completely forgot all about that creep. A few other guys even danced with us. I'm back to having a great time. Even though Marc totally ditched us. "I have to pee." I shouted into Kendra's ear. Kendra gave me a nod, and I made my way to the bathroom. It's much quieter inside the bathroom. After I finished my buisness, I stepped out, just in time to see that creep again. He looks like he's waiting for something. Wait, he couldn't be waiting for me, could he? That would be absurd, right? I scurried off with a group of girls that walked out. I don't think the creep saw me at all. I ducked into a corner, and scanned the crowd. I don't see Kendra at all. I looked everywhere for Kendra and Marc. I'm not allowed on the second floor, so I can't check up there. Where the hell did they go? After looking for over 30 minutes I gave up. I decided to leave. That creep has totally ruined my buzz, and my night. I'll just send Kendra and Marc a quick text letting them know I left. I made my way outside. The bouncer let me passed the rope, and I wished him a good night. Then I tried to get a cab. After trying to flag down a cab for over 20 minutes, I gave up. Whatever. I'll just walk for a while. I don't live too far anyways. I started to walk down the street, holding my small purse to me. Tonight has been weird. That guy was a total creep. I've never had that much trouble telling a guy no. I pulled my phone out to text Marc and Kendra. I paused while I did so, so that I didn't trip. The last thing I need is a broken nose. It was when I paused that I noticed a figure following me. This street is kind of empty, which is strange. Nothing in NYC is empty, ever. Great, I just had to pick the perfect street. I took a few turns, down other streets trying to lose the guy, or at least find more people. This dude is definitely following me. I'm starting to freak out. Is this that guy from the club? Suddenly my phone started to ring, scaring the s**t out of me. I answered without looking. "Hello?" "Op, come back." Marc slurred. I can hear the blaring music in the background. "I couldn't find you and Kendra anywhere." I said angrily. I peeked behind me to see that guy still following me. "Shit." I mumbled. "Marc, I think that creep from the club is following me." I said panicked. "What creep?" Marc asked. "The one that you didn't save me from because you were too busy thinking about getting your d**k wet." I seethed lowly. "What? Opal? Are you still there?" Marc asked. "Yes I am still here! Marc please tell me you can hear me?" I begged. Nothing. "Hello?" I asked. I pulled my phone away to see that it just died. What the hell? How did that happen? I thought it was full when I left. "Stupid shitty phone." I grumbled as I quickened my pace. I'm on a street I don't recognize. There is barely anyone out here. s**t s**t s**t. This is not happening to me. Am I about to get kidnapped? Raped? Oh no, I'm going to be sick. I need to get somewhere safe, and now. I looked behind me to see the guy getting closer. Panic is setting in like crazy. My eyes scanned the street when I found a building that looks to be open. I hurried up to it. It only reads 'Pet Store' on the front. What is a pet store doing open at this hour? Whatever, as long as I can get in and hide. Maybe even call the police, or a cab at the very least. I just need to get off the streets. "Hey you!" Came a voice. I froze. Oh no. It is that creep. "You won't be getting away from me this time bitch." He said. I ran without thinking at all. It's a miracle I didn't trip in these heels. I can hear that guy run after me. I just have to make it to the door. I'm almost there. Just as I thought the creep was going to reach me, I grabbed onto the handle of the door. I pushed the door shut, and twisted the lock on the guy. The creep's face came into view. He looks pissed. He pulled on the door, and then slammed a hand on it. "Ahem." I turned to look behind me at a desk. There is a young woman sitting there. Then I turned back to the door to see the creep is gone. I blew out a breath. Until I saw him standing across the street. I walked up to the desk the girl is at. This place doesn't look like any pet store I've ever seen. It doesn't even smell like one. It looks more like a homey office space. With two other doors in the room. "Uhm, hi. Do you have a phone I can use?" I asked her. The woman looked up at me annoyed. "No phones allowed." She said. I furrowed my brow at her. No phones allowed in a pet store? That's strange. The woman stood up, and walked to the front door. She unlocked it, and then returned to her seat. I looked between her, and the door. "Please do not lock the door. You don't work here." She said. "Uh, right. Uhm, I-" "Are you here for the party?" The woman interrupted to ask me. "Uh, yes." I lied. This girl doesn't seem like she is willing to help me at all. Maybe I can sneak out a back way. Someone else at this party might be nicer than she is. "Thought so." The woman said as she looked me up and down. "Most people wait to change until they get here though. Your master must really trust you." She said. "My master?" I asked. "Are you Angela?" The woman asked, ignoring my question. "Uh, yes. That's me." I lied again. The woman gave me a black mask. I took it from her, and placed it on my face. It covers the top half of my face. Must be a masquerade party. "Right this way Angela." The woman said as she held a door open for me. I looked at the woman, through the door, then back to the creep across the street. Gulping I walked to the woman, and followed her into another hall. What am I getting myself into?
