I sure did go with Kenzo. I sat through the entire meeting. It was actually very interesting. I enjoyed the opportunity to see how this kind of thing works. I even took notes the entire time. Just in case Kenzo has questions, or needs time to think about what to chose.
Which he did. He let everyone know that he would make a decision by the end of the week. Everyone seemed happy with his decision.
Beck walked back to the top floor with Kenzo and I. They were silent the entire time. Beck kept giving me seductive looks. To which I would either narrow, or roll my eyes. It didn't seem like Kenzo cared at all though.
See, totally out of my league. I know it. Kenzo knows it. Beck probably knows it too.
When we exited the elevator, I had practially had to sprint to keep up with the two men.
"Would it kill them to slow it down a bit? I have little legs compared to them. Freaking men."
I was too busy staring at my feet to notice that they had stopped in front of me. I ran right into Kenzo's back with a loud umph. I rubbed my nose as I glared up at him.
Kenzo turned around with a raised brow.
"Freaking men?" He asked.
My eyes went wide as my face heated. Oh no. Did I say that out loud?
Beck laughed.
"Little legs my ass." He said.
I turned a frown to him.
"Compared to the two of you." I said, and then turned back to Kenzo. "Sorry sir, I didn't mean to say that out loud. I will try to keep up." I said.
Kenzo gave me a slightly shocked expression. I can hear Beck laugh again, but my eyes are glued to Kenzo. As usual. Why does he have to be so hot? It's so unfair.
"You could have just asked me to slow down Opal." Kenzo said matter-of-factly.
With that, Kenzo turned back around, and walked back to our offices. At a much easier pace for me to keep up with. Thank goodness for that.
Once we reached our offices, I sat at my desk, as Beck and Kenzo went into his office. I thought about the way Kenzo has treated me today. I know it's only my first day, but he isn't what I expected a CEO to be like. Or a Dom for that matter.
Kenzo seems so... genuine. He isn't a talker, and he has a very monotone voice most of the time. Yet, he's kind, and gives compliments when they're deserved. I wonder if he's like this all the time, or if it's just because today is my first day. Guess I can only wait to see.
*********************************************
Beck and Kenzo have been in his office for a while now. I'm starting to wonder if Beck's job is to just give Kenzo some company. I don't actually see him do any work.
"Ahem."
At that sound, my head snapped up immediately to find a woman standing in front of my desk. My face flushed as I took her in. I didn't even notice her.
This woman looks to be the same ethnicity as Kenzo. She has black hair tied in a bun at the back of her head. Her eyes are just as deep as Kenzo's too. A sweet smile is spread across her small face. Even her pale skin is glowing.
Wow.. She's.. goregous.
"Uh, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there at all." I said awkwardly.
The woman waved her hand in the air.
"Pshh, it's completely fine. My name is Akane Suzo. I'm here to see Kenzo." She told me.
"Oh, no problem. He's in a meeting right now, but let me tell him that you're here." I told her.
I got up to knock on Kenzo's door.
"Come in." Kenzo called out.
Hearing that deep voice every single day is going to be a reward all on it's own.
I opened the door, and stepped into his office.
"Mr. Suzuki, Mrs. Suzo is here for your meeting." I let him know.
"Meeting?" Beck asked.
Kenzo only gave him a nod as a response.
"Send her in. Beck you may leave." He said.
I gave Kenzo a nod of my own, and turned back to Akane. She gave me another bright smile, that I returned instantly. I really like this girl.
"Mr. Suzuki will see you now." I told her.
Beck walked out just as the last words left my lips. Akane's smile fell from her face when she saw him. Beck smirked at her in return.
Do they.. know each other?
"Akane, so nice to see you again." Beck said with his usual charm.
Akane gave him a bored look. Oh, I definitely like her. She can see right through Beck's bullshit.
"Hi Beck. If you'll excuse me, I have a meeting with Kenzo." Akane replied.
Then she walked into Kenzo's office, and closed the door.
Wait, she just called him Kenzo. Not Mr. Suzuki. Do they know each other well? Maybe she's his girlfriend, or something. I can see the appeal. Akane is such a stunning woman, and she seems so nice.
"Trying to stare hard enough to see through the wall?" Beck teased.
I rolled my eyes as I looked at him.
"No, just lost in thought." I mumbled as I took a seat at my desk.
Beck leaned against my desk like he always does.
"Must you sit on my things?" I grumbled.
Beck only chuckled at me.
"Want to know about her?" He asked.
"Know about who?" I asked.
"Akane of course. Who else?" Beck said amused.
I shook my head.
"No." I stated.
"Why not? I can see that you are curious." He cooed.
"I can make my own conclusions thanks." I said.
"You really don't want to know?" Beck asked sounding genuinely curious.
I looked up into his brown eyes.
"I don't like to gossip." I said with a pout.
Beck's eyes flickered to my lips, then back to my eyes.
"Really?" He asked it like he doesn't believe me.
I frowned at him.
"Don't act like you haven't heard the rumors about me." I said as I turned back to my computer.
I need to make a list of Kenzo's schedule for the week. Get with the people he is meeting with. Then double check with all of them before hand. My email is blowing up as well with all kinds of requests, and changes.
"Fine. I have heard the rumors about you." Beck said.
I ignored him.
"Seems Kenzo heard about them as well. Although, he thinks that there might be some truth to them." Beck said.
I scoffed.
"Is there truth to them?" Beck asked.
I looked up to meet his eyes again. Beck has a charming smile spread across his face, showing those adorable dimples. I'm not sure if he's asking out of curiosity, or something else entirely.
Either way.. No one has ever asked me if it was true or not. They all either assume that it's true, or think that it's not. Eric doesn't believe the rumors, but he never acutally asked me about them. He just knows me well.
Since Beck is asking though.. And the first person to ask at that.. Maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt, and be honest.
"No. There is no truth to them." I answered.
Beck's smile widened.
"Are you going to set Kenzo straight with that as well?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes as I turned back to my computer.
"Nope." I answered.
"Why not?" Beck asked.
"Because he didn't ask." I replied.
"Hmm. He seems to be under the impression that they are true though." He said.
I sighed. "Then he should have asked me, instead of assuming things." I stated.
Beck chuckled.
"It doesn't bother you?" He asked.
"That my boss thinks I'm some kind of w***e? No." I lied.
"Don't lie to me Opal." Beck said lowly.
The way that he said that has chills running down my spine. Goosebumps rose across my arms and legs. Wow, he sounds almost as sexy as Kenzo.
I looked up into Beck's brown eyes. He's giving me a stern look. One that has me involuntarily pouting in response.
"Of course it bothers me. Everyone always assumes the worst from me because I wasn't qualified for this job. They all started talking about me the moment I started working here. None of them even bothered to ask me the truth of how I got this job." I answered honestly.
"And what is the truth?" Beck asked.
I blew out a breath.
"I worked at a coffee shop a few block from here when I first met Ted. He came in every morning. Our conversations were brief at first. Then I started to write the 'word of the day' on his coffee. Which lead to more conversation. Eventually, we developed a friendship. After a few months, he asked me to apply for the job. To do an interview. I thought 'why not'." I told him.
Then I looked away from Beck's handsome face.
"Truth is, Ted took a chance on me because he pitied me. That was all. I tried every day not to let him down." I finished.
Beck didn't say anything for a moment. I didn't look up at him either. Then he leaned down across my desk. I turned my head to find him only a few inches from my face.
"Thank you for telling me the truth. That was a very good girl." He said lowly.
Beck patted the top of my head, and walked away. Leaving me to wonder what the hell that was about. Since when do I like being called a good girl?
