Chapter 8

Damien I left Bailey for 2 weeks. It was killing me not knowing where to start to get to my mate, but I needed Bailey scared and weak. Pliable. I headed down the steps to the basement under the training facilities. I got to the door and nodded to the guards to open it. Standing in the doorway, I could see her huddled in the corner, sitting on the small bed, wrapped in a blanket, she stared at the wall as if there was a window to look out of. She turned to look at me, exhaustion clear on her face. “Bailey” I spoke softly, trying not to set her off. I wanted her cooperation. She turned back to her wall, not making a sound I took a deep breath and stepped into the room, closing the door behind me. I grab a chair from the corner, noting the uneaten food on the table next to it. Sitting near her, I look at her, but she refuses to meet my eyes. “Bailey, I need you to help me. I don’t want to do this. I hate being this way with you. But you have to meet me in the middle.” “I can’t tell you anything” She stated, jutting out her chin, ever defiant. “Bailey aren’t you hungry? Tired? Wouldn’t you like a warm bath? Just give me something to go off of. I will take you to the pack house, give you the guest room, hot bath, meal, comfortable bed. Come on Bailey” Her eyes darted to mine, defiant, angry, but tired. I could see her resolve waver. “I can’t tell you where she is, but I can give you the number to call the witch in charge.” She spoke softly, resignation marking her words. I nodded, taking out my phone and handing it over. She input a number and handed it back. “Ill be back” I said, leaving her alone, I stepped out to the hallway and dialed the call. “Hello handsome…ready to talk about your little witch?” The voice on the other end greeted me after a few rings. Amelia I worked at the crack in the chair, dragging the smallest piece of rope across it in an effort to widen it. I could hear Tansy pacing and low voices arguing. Whoever had called, had set them in a mood. Id been working at the chair for hours and I wasn’t sure if it was starting to loosen up or I was imagining it. I heard footsteps descending the stairs and stopped my efforts, hoping to not attract attention to my escape efforts. Tansy came into the room, slamming the door behind her. “They want you back” She spoke distractedly, skimming the pages of her spell book. I watched her, thinking about how I was going to get out of here. “You seem irritated, are your plans falling apart?” I asked, hoping to spark her anger. I had an idea, but whether it was good or bad remained to be seen. She ignored me, beginning to mix my daily potion. I watched her finish it up and as she turned to bring it to me, I knew, it was now or never. She forces my head back, pouring the liquid down my throat. This time however, I let my stomach go, spitting the potion into her face. Fury flashed in her eyes as she raised her hand and brought it across my face, the force of her slap knocking the chair over. “Stupid b***h” she shrieked, stomping back to her table to make another batch. I felt the chair leg break, loosening the ropes around my body. I slowly untangled myself, attempting to quietly get to my feet. My body was free, but my hands were still shackled. I still could not use my magic. Distracted by her spell, I moved quietly behind her and grabbed her by the hair, slamming her head into the table. She gave a shout and pushed back against me, breaking from my grip and spinning around. Blood dripped from a small wound on her forehead, and she pulled out her knife from her belt. “Little witch, you are going to be sorry for that” Moving towards me, she attempted to lunge knife first, but I managed to dodge, backing to the corner near the door. She lunged at me, plunging the knife into my shoulder. I screamed as the pain hit me, but kicked at her, knocking her back. She lost her footing and fell back, giving me a chance to run for the door. I got halfway up the steps when I felt her tackle me from behind. My head smacked off the step, making me see stars. I shook my head, and kicked straight back, connecting with her face and knocking her off of me. I got up and ran up the rest of the steps, bursting into the kitchen. Her sister Ella was nowhere to be seen, and I bolted to the door. Fumbling with the lock, I got the door open threw myself through it, colliding with Damien as he was about to come inside.
