Chapter_69: Under my skin

“You got some nerve, showing up here-” Billy said letting out the smoke and standing up.

He suddenly jumped and caught Lisa off guard and held her from behind, pointing a gun at her head.

“Now let me pass and no one gets hurt-” he warned.

“I can’t do that- I had enough of your evil plans-” Raven said pointing her gun at him.

Lisa was shocked at Billy’s behavior and she was only looking for an opportunity to strike him and escape. Some people on the park saw this and began to scream and run- it was slowly turning chaotic, someone called the nearby cops. Johnathan was 500 meters away and as soon as he saw Billy holding her hostage, he ran with all his might towards her.

“You’re making a mistake- let me go- or else-” warned Lisa as Billy held her arms tightly while pointing a gun on her back.

“Or else what? Huh! You’re gonna come with me and you’ll help me finish the ritual and nobody’s gonna stop me!” he said and immediately fired at Raven.

The bullet hit Raven’s shoulder and she fell down groaning in pain. Johnathan was only three metres away from them. Billy turned towards Johnathan and said-

“Stop right there- I knew you was here- don’t make a move or I’ll put a bullet in her brain!”

Johnathan stopped and looked at him in anger, one sudden move and Billy would fire at her.

The people in the park were running and screaming all about the place, two policemen came running towards them whistling- dispatch had been alerted, soon the whole place would be crawling with police. Farid and Solomon got out of the truck and rushed towards them as soon as they heard the gun shot, the people in the park were trying to get out and it was hard to get inside.

"Get outta my way Johnny- or I'm gonna shoot-" warned Billy.

"Either way you gonna die today-" Johnathan replied and closed his eyes.

Three seconds later he opened his eyes and his powers were activated. His entire body was beaming with white energy and his arms were glowing with power. Lisa had never seen Johnny in that form and she looked at him awestruck. But Billy wasn't impressed- he had the eye in his pocket and it would prevent Johnathan from hurting him. Farid and Solomon saw what was going on as they entered the park.

"Is he crazy? He shouldn't show his powers in public- look the policemen are drawing near!" Solomon said.

"We got to do something Brother- nobody should see this- remember 'the veil of darkness'? replied Farid.

Solomon understood what he meant and they both took out their prayer beads and started praying. The Veil of darkness was an emergency measure used by the Elders to prevent ordinary people from viewing the supernatural events. It started with a special prayer and required as many monks as possible- the more the people, the stronger the veil. But they were the only monks on the scene, so they had to make do with what they had. The Veil is a barrier of energy that covers a particular area around an event. Any normal person inside the veil would fall asleep and outside the veil, it would appear as though things were normal. The veil used past events that had occurred in the area and projected on to the outside world so that everything would seem normal from outside. The only drawback was that the veil was penetrable from the outside and the monks had to continue to pray to keep it up for a long time- the moment the prayers stopped, the veil would come down and everything would go back to normal.

The two Elders started to pray with their eyes closed and soon enough, there emerged a transparent veil of energy that covered the entire park. The policemen who were approaching Johnathan had immediately fallen asleep on the way and the few people who were still scrambling to get out had fallen asleep too. But they didn't have much time, dispatched had already alerted the local cops and they would soon be there.

Johnathan stared angrily at Billy- he was looking for an opening to attack but Billy was using Lisa as a shield to protect himself. What he didn't know was that the power of veil would also make Lisa fall asleep!

Just as the veil was completed, Lisa fell asleep on Billy's arms and as he scrambled to hold her up, Johnathan attacked with a punch to his cheek. He fell a few feet away and Lisa fell flat on the ground. Johnathan thought he had knocked him out but to his surprise, Billy stood up on his feet.

"That's good- Farid taught you well but you can't do nothing, the Eye protects me-" replied Billy.

Johnathan was surprised- such a punch would dislocate a normal person's jaw but Billy was barely hurt. He went again- this time punching him all over and kicking him hard, throwing him far into the bushes. He barely fought back. But again Billy stood up on his feet and smirked- not a hair on his body was hurt!

"You know Johnny, I wasn't gonna hurt you but you leave me no choice- there's still time, let me have that girl and we'll call it even- huh? What does she mean to you anyway? Join me and I'll teach you about immortality and we could rule this place- together!!" said Billy.

"You sound like the very monsters that I've killed- the Eye? It's turning you into a monster and let me tell you something- as long as I'm here- nothing will hurt her-" he replied.

"Oh? Little Johnny likes her!" Billy mocked "well in that case- Goodbye Johnny!"

Billy took out the Eye from his pocket and showed it to Johnathan- immediately Azazel went screaming inside his head. His voice was so loud that it disoriented him. Azazel wanted out and he was crawling under his skin. Johnathan was going crazy-

"You see Son- no demon can resist such a powerful weapon- I knew it from the moment I fed you the demon blood- Ha ha ha- enjoy the trip!" said Billy.
