Chapter_07: Downtown Showdown

Lisa sat on a chair facing Ivan. The rest of the men moved away to a corner table while the girls went outside.

"Ah! A lady cop...what a lucky day...", said Ivan in a thick Russian accent.

Lisa looked at Ivan and said-

"Listen I'm just here to ask you a few questions about the murders that happened a few days ago..."

"Yes...Yes... I've heard...nasty business...", said Ivan as he poured some vodka in his glass.

"So...I was wondering if you have any clue about who might have done it...", said Lisa.

"You mean if I had anything to do with it?", asked Ivan.

"Well ..", said Lisa.

"You know I'm just a business man...I have nothing to do with crime...", he said trying to be clever.

"Let's cut the bull crap...We all know what you really do...but I'm not here for that...I just want some information about the murders...", she said.

"Like I said I have nothing to do with it...must be some new gang trying to show off...I have no clue...", he replied taking a huge gulp from his glass.

"Well...If you don't co-operate, I'm gonna have to ask you to come down to the police station with me...", she said.

Ivan laughed so hard that he almost choked on his drink.

"I've not done anything illegal and you don't have any proof or warrant...so please... don't waste my time...go out have a drink and enjoy...", he said and signalled his guards to show her out.

Lisa stood up and looked at him. She really wanted to knock his teeth off. But she knew she couldn't do much and so she turned and walked out of the room. She then went towards the bar and took a shot of whiskey and headed out of the club towards her car. For a few minutes she sat inside her car observing the entrance of the club. Her instinct told her that something was about to happen. And so she sat in her car waiting and watching as curious people went in and out - half an hour passed- nothing happened.

A few metres away Johnathan and Billy were getting ready to 'hit' the club. Johnathan had no idea how they were gonna do it, apparently Billy had a plan. He looked at Billy- he put on his hat and loaded his gun, which he concealed underneath his jacket, then he took out a knife and hid it too in his clothes. Johnathan was wondering how he was gonna conceal a sword in his clothes when suddenly Billy started to walk towards the club. As he reached the entrance he took out his gun and fired at the two guards-

*Bang*

*Bang*

The two guards fell dead on the floor and Billy turned towards Johnathan and signalled him to follow. Johnathan ran towards the club in response.

In the car, Lisa was startled by the gunshots and she immediately got out of her car and saw a man running into the club. She took out her phone and immediately called for backup. She then took out her sidearm and approached the entrance and saw the two dead bodyguards- someone had shot them right in the head. Then she heard screaming inside and more shots being fired,she immediately rushed in and found herself in the middle of a fierce gun-fight.

Billy and Johnathan were hiding behind the pillars and Billy was firing frantically at the men- while Johnathan holding on to his sword nervously. The other people were running around in all directions trying to find an exit- the music was still playing.

Now Lisa was crouching by the entrance door while Billy and Johnathan were in the right corner of the club which was close to Ivan's office. Suddenly Billy came out of hiding and as he kept firing he went and hid himself further towards the middle of the club, behind a casino table. Johnathan was still unsure what he was suppose to do so he tried to follow Billy but as soon as he tried to crawl out of hiding, someone shot at him and the bullet barely missed his left ear. Johnathan sat down immediately, his war time memories came into his mind- he was breathing heavily and sweating. He looked at his left leg, he had the same tingling sensation, something inside him wanted to fight but he was scared. Then he remembered what Billy had said earlier-

"No mortal weapon can hurt you..."

With this in mind, he stood up and came out of hiding with the Katana in his right hand.He saw about fifteen men were firing at Billy from all around the room.

A bullet came flying from the other side and hit Johnathan right on his chest but strangely it didn't penetrate his body- there wasn't even a scratch. It simply fell down on the floor like a fly. Johnathan looked down at his chest- the amulet was glowing!

"Huh! Let's play then...", he said and took out his Katana from the sheath and ran towards the men hiding behind the pillars.

As he did so, the firing began to focus on him and hundreds of bullets came flying at him from all directions. But not a single bullet could touch his skin, each and every bullet was stopped by an invisible force just half an inch from his body and fell to the ground.

With the Katana in his hand, Johnathan jumped at the pillars and kicked one of them with just a single kick of his leg. The men were immediately knocked off unconscious. He the turned towards the other men hiding under the table.One of them fired an entire round at Johnathan but couldn't hurt him, then he jumped at Johnathan with all his might and as he did so, Johnathan could see the fangs coming out from his mouth.

Infact there was no mouth- only teeth- more teeth! Johnathan had now seen a real life vampire. The vamp jumped at Johnathan but he took his sword and swung at his body and cut the vamp right through his chest- there were two pieces of him now lying on the floor!

Billy saw Johnathan's transformation and thanked the heavens,for he knew he had found the saviour- the Guardian- the last Guardian!!

Right at the entrance door Lisa was trying hard to guess what was going on and all she saw a man fighting off the mafia goons single handedly with a sword. She looked closely and recognised his face-

"That's the Sergeant I met earlier... what is he doing here?", she said to herself.

She thought it best to observe and wait for back up and not engage anyone.

The music was playing hard and there was literal blood on the dancefloor as Johnathan yelled and swung his sword and slashed one Vampire after another- he was getting more and more powerful with each kill and he was fighting like a real Samurai although he had no proper training in any martial art!

Five minutes later Johnathan had finished off more than half of the men and the rest started to flee. Billy intercepted one of them and pinned him to the floor and put his gun to his head-

"Where's Ivan?", he asked.

"Go to hell!!", replied the men and Billy punched him in his face.

"Freeze!!", yelled Lisa pointing her gun at Billy.

"Put down the gun!", she added.

"I'm not the enemy Missy!", replied Billy still pointing his gun at the man.

"I said put the gun down and step away...", ordered Lisa.

Suddenly another Vamp jumped at Lisa from behind, this was a woman- a half naked stripper, with her fangs out. Lisa wrestled the vamp for a moment but it was too strong and it almost had its jaws on her neck when a Johnathan pulled the vamp from behind and threw her to the side. The Vamp saw Johnathan and immediately ran away.

Johnathan helped Lisa up and asked -

"You ok?"

"Yeah... what the hell was that thing...", Lisa was still shaking from what she had just seen.

"A vampire...", said Johnathan and went over to Billy's side.

Billy had almost knocked the man unconscious but he still wouldn't answer. Just then he saw Ivan trying to weasel out of the back door quietly. Billy immediately shot at him but missed. Ivan ran away and the police had arrived. Billy stood up and asked Johnathan to follow him. Both of them went out through the back door.

Lisa stood there trying to comprehend what had just happened. She picked up her gun and just at that moment the captain and his team came in. Lisa greeted the captain and started to explain what she had witnessed.

Back at the highway Johnathan and Billy were driving towards the Church. Johnathan was excited that he had attained such powers and had used them for something good...

"This is just the beginning son, you can do much more...", remarked Billy.

"Like what?", asked Johnathan.

"I don't know...the Armour of God is mysterious, it gives it's bearer unknown powers, this is the first time I have witnessed it in action...be patient and...", replied Billy.

"Keep believing in yourself...I know", said Johnathan interrupting him.

Billy smiled and lit a smoke. It was past midnight and the moon was peeking through the clouds. Most of the city was half asleep and the highway was deserted. Johnathan touched the amulet with his left hand and wondered what other secrets does it hold.
