Chapter_36: The Hand Of God

“Why have you forsaken the high heaven, the eternal

sanctuary;

and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the

daughters of men;

and taken for yourselves wives, and done as the sons of

and begotten for yourselves sons, giants?

You were holy ones and spirits, living forever.

“So-this is the mortal who’s supposed to be called the Guardian?”said the voice as the figure approached Johnathan who was lying on the floor.

Johnathan was choking to death- he was barely listening to what the figure in front of him was saying.

“Such a pity! I have barely used my powers and you’re already on the brink of death- Ah! I thought it would be a lot harder, I’ll take down the spell for a moment so that you can speak your last words before I kill you-”said he and snapped his fingers.

Johnathan immediately recovered from the gripping paralysis and finally started to breath. In front of him, he saw a tall and handsome man with golden hair and a shiny face. He slowly stood up and looked at him-

“Who the hell are you? What have you done to Lisa?”he asked.

“I’m an angel of the Lord- Shemyaza and I’m here to end your puny life and rule over this world-by the way how did you like my work? The hallucinations that you just had? It was so much fun to see you dance around like a monkey- ”replied Shemyaza with a smile.

“So you’re that fallen angel- huh! I was hoping you’d show up, but you tricked me- I thought you’d want to battle-”said Johnathan sarcastically.

“You dare speak to me like that- I will turn you to dust this instant!” growled Shemyaza.

“Do what you want to me but leave Lisa out of this- it’s too lowly even for you to involve my friends-”replied Johnathan boldly.

“Who? This beautiful creature? I will have her in my harem- she’ll be one of my many prizes!” he replied smirking.

“Now, now- this is the exact reason you guys got banished from heaven- your perversions- you couldn’t keep your ‘things’ inside, where they belong-” said Johnathan trying to provoke him.

“Enough! You lowlife!!”yelled Shemyaza and raised his right palm towards Johnathan.

Suddenly strange steel wires appeared out of the wooden floor and grabbed both of his hands.

“You shall know the consequences of insulting me-”said he and held his hand in a fist.

The wires began to grab Johnathan’s hands and legs even tighter and it started to cut into his skin. He screamed in pain and agony. He knew it was now or never that he had to fight back or else he would have no limbs to fight with! So he recalled his emotions like he had practiced earlier and tried to bring out his powers. Immediately he felt the power surging through his veins-his “Armour of God” was preventing the wires from cutting deeper into his limbs. Steel was flowing through his veins and his arms were beginning to glow bright. Soon the wires were starting to break apart one by one and Johnathan pulled his arms and broke off from the b*****e. Shemyaza was surprised.

“So you can fight back too! Good I haven’t had a worthy opponent in like – a millennia-” he said and raised his other hand at him.

This time he materialized a giant serpent out of thin air. The head of the serpent was as big as his entire body. Johnathan reached for his sword and drew it out. The serpent opened its mouth and its split tongue rolled out through its giant fangs. Johnathan held his sword up high and immediately slashed through it’s head- the serpent disappeared in an instant. Shemyaza was shocked-

“That’s impossible!”he thought.

He began uttering some magical chants and a long sword materialized in his right hand. It was nothing like Johnathan had ever seen. The sword was almost five feet long and it had intricate designs on it- the handle was made out of pure gold- it was surely of divine origin and it glistened with power. Johnathan worried whether his steel Katana would be able to hold up against it but then he remembered- belief! The more he believed, the stronger he could get-

“Let’s see how you handle my heavenly sword-”said he and swung hard at Johnathan.

Johnathan blocked his attack with his own sword and immediately sparks began to fly from the impact of the clashing of the two swords. There was also a loud ring emanating from Shemyaza’s sword as it began to cut through the Katana. Johnathan could barely hold back- the sparkling and the high-pitched ringing was too much for him and so with his full force, he somehow managed to push him back a few steps. Shemyaza smirked- he knew that he was too powerful to be defeated. Johnathan was panting hard- it took all of his energy to throw him back just once-the fighting hadn’t even started yet! He looked at Lisa- she was still unconscious on the couch. He thought that she definitely wouldn’t like her house destroyed while he fought Shemyaza, so he decided to take the battle outside and immediately stepped out of the door and into the front lawn.

“Oh! Running now are we? How mortal of you!” said Shemyaza and chased after him.

Johnathan knew he had to end this, the longer he fought, the weaker he would get and it was exhausting already. He recalled his Tai Chi training- however simple and ritualistic the moves of Tai Chi seemed, it could help him bring out his inner Qi and help him fight. So he took his sword and placed it slowly on the ground and got himself into a Tai Chi form of fighting stance, the one that Brother Farid had taught him earlier- he really hoped that he could bring out the fire rings. Shemyaza looked at him and almost burst out laughing-

“Your monkey moves won’t help you!!” said he and rushed at him.

Johnathan moved his body into an attacking stance and stooped lower to punch him in the guts. To his amazement there emanated a shock wave from his punch and a bright ring of fire! Shemyaza fell back immediately and was in utter shock.

“A mortal has dared to hit me?” his pride was hurt.

And this time with his full force ,he raised his sword and rushed at Johnathan who immediately twisted and turned around and grabbed his hair from behind. Shemyaza growled in anger and kicked Johnathan back. He punched Johnathan in his face and Johnathan power-punched him back. Shemyaza was feeling the punches now and he kept wondering how a mere mortal like him could fight against him. Johnathan was getting tired now, every move he made was costing him tremendous amounts of energy- fighting a monster or a demon would have been much easier. He had to finish this fight quick but Shemyaza decided to change tactics now. He opened up his giant wings and began to fly. He then began firing bursts of lightning towards him. Johnathan ducked for a while but he decided to go offensive now. He took a few steps back and began to run towards him and finally he jumped- his iron legs helped him leap twenty feet above the ground. As he reached to the point where Shemyaza was flying, he threw a powerful punch at his face but to his dismay Shemyaza blocked his punch and grabbed his arm. He then choked him and pushed him towards the ground. Johnathan fell hard on the ground with the angel on top of him still holding on to his neck.

"Now I call upon my divine powers and smite you away to oblivion-" said he and raised his hand high towards the sky.

The sky began to crackle with electricity and the lightning was beginning to concentrate above Shemyaza's hand. He was about to obliterate Johnathan into atoms! Johnathan looked in anxiety still choked hard, not knowing what would happen next.

But in a sudden turn of events, the lightning started to fade away and a bright light teared through the black clouds! It got so bright that night turned into day and Johnathan had to close his eyes. Shemyaza looked above- he knew something much powerful than him was staring down at him from the sky and only he could see it- something he hadn't seen in a million years-

"Father?!" he cried out in joy and fear and let go off Johnathan.

The bright light completely engulfed Shemyaza and suddenly a stroke of lightning fell upon him. Shemyaza yelled in agony and suddenly disappeared!

Johnathan opened his eyes and saw that his opponent had fled and he couldn't understand why but he recalled that Lisa was unconscious inside and so he rushed inside.
