Kayla would awaken to a bed left frigid with the absence of her bedfellow; the only thing remaining having been a small note card written on the back of a comment card informing her how Dusty would be retrieving her for a ‘day of monotonous interviews that she will be expected to endure with a smile and a look of love’. Given the context of his writing, she wasn’t sure if he had awoken with her in his arms, as he had fallen asleep or held any portion of a recollection of the night before. But she had known with certainty it had changed how she saw him indefinitely.
