Chapter TwelveSlate “Holy crap, this place is packed,” Gabby mutters as we walk into the bar. She’s not kidding—I can barely hear her over the chattering crowd, let alone the music, which is cranked to a twelve out of ten. “Just another Saturday night downtown.” I sigh in resignation. “At least there’s still a few seats left at the bar. We won’t have to split up.” Karina frowns. “No tables? Ugh. Those bar stools make my ass hurt. But I guess it’s not the end of the world.” We wander toward the bar where I spot my friend Jack, who owns the place, and I give him a fist bump. “Hey, dude. Good to see you.” “You too,” he calls out over the music.
