I'm Happy With You

Ethan looked at the door that was closed by Eggbert. He was even still gazing at the door that had been completely closed. Wasn't that close? Ethan was still trying to calm his heart that beat like crazy. But suddenly, Ethan was surprised because a hand tapped his shoulder gently, like falling cotton. Even so, Ethan was still surprised. With one quick gesture, he looked over his shoulder. Of course, who else will it be? As expected, is that annoying old man, Roman Pearson. Ethan sighed, then glanced at Roman with a sharp look. "What took you so long? Even though the receptionist said, you'd be coming soon." Roman smiled. "I've come as fast as I can." Ethan pursed his lips, glancing once more time at the door. Roman followed Ethan glace. "Are you okay?" Ethan was silent for a while before finally turning his gaze to Roman. He examined that old man up and down. Then Ethan hugged Roman. He buried his face in the old man's chest. Roman hugged him tightly, stroking Ethan's hair gently. "He won't be coming here again, right?" "He's never coming back here again, don't worry." *** After half an hour had passed, the p*****t Seamus was no longer coming into Roman's room. Ethan heaved a sigh of relief. He was completely safe now. After all, he wouldn't dare enter if the owner directly ordered him, right? Meanwhile, Roman was eating his lunch while checking some documents. It seemed that the old man was very busy. He even ignored Ethan, to the point that he let Ethan put his feet up on his thighs. Ethan, who had wanted to give him some evidence, hesitated when he saw Roman, who was super busy. "Mr. Pearson." "Hmm?" He didn't glance at Ethan. He even took another piece of document and grabbed a pen. He seemed to be scribbling some parts of the sheet. Ethan waited for the old man until he looked at him. He was probably confused as to why Ethan hadn't said anything when he had called him. "You know, I have the photos." "What photos?" "Photo of Mrs. Pearson at the airport." Ethan could see Roman smiling as he returned to pick up some documents. But that smile turned into a stiff smile. Roman seemed to have a hard time keeping that smile. "Really?" he asked with a trembling voice. Ethan could see the papers he was holding were shaking like a small earthquake in Roman's hand. "I also accidentally saw her at the cafe. But at the bar, I didn't have time to take any pictures." Roman now stopped his movements, staring blankly at the pile of papers. It was a long time before he finally seemed to wake up from his own thoughts. He blinked his eyes quickly. Roman also glanced at Ethan while pressing his lips together. "Y-you want to see it?" Roman turned away his gaze. Ethan could see the annoying old man closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He feels like the bad guy, isn't he? Ethan was cursing himself now. He shouldn't have said all those things at the same time. Roman remained unmoved, still with his eyes closed. While Ethan just realized that his feet were still on Roman's thigh, he panicked for a while before he finally decided to slowly lift his leg. But the thing that almost made Ethan even fall from his chair was when Roman suddenly grabbed Ethan's legs tightly as if Ethan would disappear if Roman didn't squish his legs. He then stomped them on his thighs. Ethan quickly holds on to the chair. Ethan's breathing was heavy and deep because Roman's sudden movement made his heartbeat uncontrollable. But when Ethan turned his gaze to Roman, Ethan could see Roman, who was just as shocked as him. Even Ethan could see his hand floating on Ethan's leg was trembling. His eyes widened, and his breath burst in and out. Roman turned his gaze towards Ethan, but a few seconds later, Roman smoothed his look. He lowered his head. "Sorry," he whispered. Roman gently pushed Ethan's leg, then covered his face with both hands. Indeed, almost nothing came out of that old man's mouth, but Ethan could feel the sadness he felt. The old man was clearly angry, yet he kept it alone. He was clearly trying to escape the feeling that trapped him. His heart winced, as if something was slicing his heart until it hurt, so he felt like he wanted to punch himself in the chest, hoping the pain would subside as he hit more and more. Isn't Ethan better than her? Of course, he was. Come to think of it, Ethan hadn't even seen that crazy woman earlier in the morning. Whether she was on her way, or at least if she was home. she would be standing in the doorway, smiling encouragingly at everyone. Ah but, Ethan is better, right? The woman wasn't even there. She wasn't there when that old man needed her. Ethan stood up. His steps were slow as if he was walking on water. Until finally, he saw Roman, looking down while covering his face. Ethan had always seen him as a powerful man with a strong aura. Ethan felt exaggerating to say it, but he thought that his figure was like a legendary lion that he often saw in gladiator-themed films. It was shattering to see the strong lion, curled up like a skinny cat on the roadside, accidentally kicked by passersby. Ethan slowly put his hand on Roman's shoulder. Ethan had thought that Roman was crying. As soon as Roman looked up, Ethan didn't see a single tear running down his cheek. Only, his eyes lost their glint, his breathing was probably tired, his lips flat. Roman touched Ethan's hand, just a touch as light as cotton, as if he had surrendered to everything that seemed to not let him breathe freely. Roman bowed his head again. "You can send me the photo. I'll look at it later. You can go when you're bored." Roman pulled his hand. But Ethan feels he has lost something that has always guarded him all this time. A warm feeling, because you know he will always be by your side, you know he will always protect you. Ethan sat on Roman's thighs. He immediately turned his body to the side to hug that old man. Ethan buried his face into that old man's shoulder. Roman was stunned, but his arm was wrapped around Ethan's waist a second later. Ethan could feel his long, long sigh hitting his shoulder, sending chills down his spine. "How can I go when you're like this?" Roman laughed, more like a mocking laugh. "Aren't you bored?" Ethan tightened his embrace, his eyes filled with tears. "How can I be bored? I'm actually angry." "Angry?" "I'm angry with Mrs. Pearson because she hurt you, and you have to take the pain alone." Roman couldn't deny his feelings anymore because of the person in his arms. "Did you forget that I was here, Mr. Pearson? I don't want to see you like this. It's pathetic." He not only brings him happiness, but he is also a wellspring in the middle of the desert. Somehow, he, who looked weak, gave Roman a strong feeling of pleasure. "Didn't you see me? Even though I always wanted to hug you when I saw you. Could it be that you didn't miss me?" He was like a fantastically bright star, whose light he could feel even though he was billions of miles away. "You know, Mr. Pearson. I want to see you happy, with Mrs. Pearson or anyone. I just want to see you happy." Roman let go of his hug. He pushed Ethan slowly and saw the tears starting to flow down Ethan's cheeks. Roman laughed, wiping Ethan's tears with his thumbs. "Why were you crying?" He's worried about Roman with all her heart, isn't he? "What are you talking about? I'm so happy." "Are you happy to see your wife cheating on you?" Roman smiled as he shook his head. He pulled Ethan back into his arms. "Of course not." Ethan hugged him back. "I'm happy with you, Ethan." "But we're not gonna make it." "So it means I can't be happy with you?" Ethan shook his head. As tears fell from his eyes more and more, Roman stroked Ethan's back. "I'm sorry," he whispered.
