Dylan loves Jessica very much, but Rosie was already back in his life. Rosie is very beautiful and, most importantly, slim and simple—the way he would have preferred Jessica to be.
So it would be easy for him to carry Jessica up to his chest and make love to her while standing in their bedroom whenever he was intimate with her.
But Jessica is now too heavy for him to carry and to engage in all those adventurous lovemaking styles that he used to enjoy with her. Because of her chubby body now, their s****l affairs as husband and wife have diminished and become dull. He couldn't do all those fun things that he liked doing with Jessica before.
Jessica is also mostly preoccupied with taking care of their two kids, and Dylan didn't like how their fun moments have dwindled.
He found himself criticizing Jessica every day because of her chubby body; however, Jessica usually smiled through it, not realizing that he was serious. No matter what he did to annoy her, she would just smile and never get upset with him, which frustrated him because he couldn't leave their home to cheat on her or find a random woman to sleep with. Doing so would ruin his reputation and his company, especially if anyone who knew him saw him in a clubhouse or coming out of a hotel room with someone who wasn't his wife.
Jessica's father is a billionaire in their state and a very influential man. Dylan knew he couldn't just cheat on Jessica and have the wild pleasure he always desired, but with Rosie back in the country, they had reunited.
Dylan visited Rosie at her home, and she told him that she was still single. She even encouraged him to divorce Jessica so they could be together again.
In Rosie's words: "Dylan babe, you're not the first man who will divorce his wife, and you won't be the last. So please, divorce that woman you have at home so we can marry, as you promised me before when I was 16 years old."
Dylan remembered that he was with Rosie when she brought up the idea of divorcing Jessica. He had actually carried Rosie up in his arms, wrapping her slender legs around his waist while they were intimate in the way he enjoyed the most.
Dylan agreed to divorce Jessica, so he wouldn’t feel guilty about cheating on her. Rosie even helped him prepare the divorce papers, which he couldn't believe he was actually doing. He hadn't gone to the courthouse or spoken to his lawyer about it; he simply gave Rosie his full name and Jessica's and hadn’t even read the divorce papers she had prepared.
Despite everything, Dylan still loved Jessica after all she had done for him, and a part of him didn't want to divorce her, as she was the mother of his two kids. Jessica had never done anything wrong to him, aside from the fact that she had gained weight. She truly loved him and supported him in becoming the billionaire he was today.
Dylan stepped out of the guest room, where he had slept the previous night, and walked into the living room. He saw his two kids playing and running around early in the morning.
It was already after 8 AM, and Dylan wondered what Jessica was still doing upstairs in their bedroom instead of getting the kids ready for school.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Caleb and Nina both rushed up to hug his legs when they saw him come out of the guest room.
He picked Caleb up first with his right arm and then Nina with his left, asking them, "No school today?"
Nina looked very much like Jessica with her pretty complexion and cute chubby cheeks, while Caleb resembled Dylan with his dark skin and short black hair.
Caleb shook his head and replied, "I don't know, Dad..."
"Okay, wait, let me find out from your mum. And don’t play rough with your sister, okay? I’ll be right back," Dylan said as he climbed the living room stairs. He knew that he had fired their last maid and instructed Jessica to handle all the house chores and take care of the kids, so she wouldn’t just be sitting around doing nothing while leaving all the work for the maid.
Dylan went upstairs and walked into the bedroom, where he saw Jessica crying on the bed, in a dreamlike state, calling out his name loudly and screaming.
He rushed to Jessica, scooping her up in his arms, trying to wake her from her dreaming state. "Jessica babe, it's me, Dylan. Wake up, I’m here now."
Dylan shook her gently to wake her as she continued to call out his name and cry, "Dylan, please don’t send me away, I’m sorry. Dylan, please."
"I'm here, babe. I won’t send you away. Wake up now, Jessica," he urged. He didn't know if it was one of Jessica's tricks to prevent him from divorcing her, but he had never seen her in such a state before, and it worried him deeply.
When she finally woke up, her forehead was covered in sweat, and her face was tear-streaked from crying in her dream, begging Dylan not to leave her. Upon hearing his deep voice close to her ears, her eyes fluttered open, focusing on his handsome face and sharp blue eyes.
"Dylan..." she uttered slowly, reaching her right hand up to touch his chin and jawline, ensuring that he was truly there and not just a figment of her dreams.
As she caressed Dylan's jaw and blushed, she couldn’t believe he was really there in their bedroom. He had left her the previous night to sleep alone in their big bed.
Seeing that Jessica was finally awake, Dylan carefully sat her up and moved away from her, standing at the foot of the bed, staring at her coldly.
He raked his short black hair in frustration as their gazes met. She felt embarrassed to realize that she had cried all night, even in her sleep, and had called out to him during the nightmare.
The dream felt so real—she had seen Dylan throwing her belongings outside, but as she cried and called out to him, he had returned to his senses and refused to send her away, even as a strange woman left angrily after Dylan’s refusal.
Jessica knew she had to consult her pastor to pray against any strange woman trying to disrupt her home and marriage. She looked at Dylan, who stood beside the bed, raking his hair and staring away from her.
His previous gentle smile had vanished, replaced by a strict demeanor. Finally, he asked her, "Aren't the kids going to school today?"
"The kids?" Jessica looked perplexed, completely forgetting about them. Still seated on the bed in her white nightgown, she wiped her sweaty forehead and tears, sniffling as she asked Dylan, "Which kids?"
Dylan's expression hardened as he replied, "Our kids, Jessica. Aren't they going to school today?"
"Oh! I forgot! They are already late!" Jessica exclaimed as she jumped down from the bed, about to rush out of the bedroom. She remembered that she wasn't wearing a bra or pants, so she quickly walked back to the wardrobe to grab her underwear, not minding that Dylan was staring at her.
Dylan stood beside the bed as Jessica hurriedly put on her jacket over her white nightgown before finally exiting their bedroom. She rushed downstairs to the living room to meet her children, whose rooms were also located on the second side of the mansion.
