Chapter 2 - Avoiding Jessica

1502 Words
Jessica was grateful that her two children were fast asleep in their separate bedrooms, as they had been questioning her about where their father went and why he wasn't usually around in the morning when they were preparing for school. Jessica could not believe that she had to lie to her two innocent kids, telling them that their father traveled out for a business meeting, while Dylan didn’t pick up her calls at all, and she had no idea where he had gone. Jessica entered their bedroom, still holding the divorce papers in her hands. She saw Dylan stripping off his suit as he stood naked in their bedroom, preparing to take a bath. She gulped hard as her blue eyes made contact with her husband’s muscular body. He might look like he isn't aging at all, but he had matured and was not the same man she had married five years ago. Jessica remembered how her father had rejected Dylan because her family harbored a personal hatred for poor people. She had begged her family on his behalf and even acted mad with her own parents just so they would approve of Dylan and accept him as her husband. She supported his business to help it grow, and now that he was already successful and a billionaire, blessed with two beautiful kids, Dylan was speaking to her about divorce and beginning to have doubts about their five years of marriage. Jessica knew that marriage wasn't a "do or die" affair, but she had tried to be the best wife she could be for Dylan. She woke up very early in the morning to prepare breakfast for him and their kids. Every day, she also took them to school, and then returned to pick them up after school. Jessica recognized that she had put her own life on pause to help Dylan build his life and their family by caring for their two kids at home and becoming a full-time housewife. Now Dylan was telling her about divorce and claiming that their five years of marriage was over. "Dylan," Jessica called, hoping to gain his attention. He turned around to face her, having taken off all his clothes. "What is it? Have you signed the divorce papers now?" Dylan asked, staring at Jessica’s face coldly. "No, Dylan. We cannot divorce. I cannot agree to divorce you, and you know that I love you very much," Jessica replied, wanting to believe that her husband had spoken to her about divorce only out of drunkenness. She walked up to him to embrace him as he stood in the middle of their bedroom unclothed, attempting to touch his chiseled chest, but Dylan quickly caught her hand before she could reach him. He shoved her hand down beside her and told her, "You have no right to my body anymore, Jessica! The sooner you sign that divorce paper and leave, the better. You go back to your father's house and find another man who will marry you." "Dylan!" Jessica exclaimed, feeling puzzled and heartbroken by her husband’s statement. Her blue eyes immediately turned red, welling up with tears. She questioned him, "So you're cheating on me now, Dylan? You can confidently tell me to leave and go back to my parents' house and find another man? Is that how much hatred you have for me now?" Dylan ignored Jessica's question, feeling her eyes on his bare body as he turned to walk into the bathroom to bathe, leaving Jessica speechless as she stood in their bedroom, still holding the divorce papers. Jessica missed her husband and desperately wanted him to make love to her. She had hoped that when Dylan returned home, he would apologize for where he had been for two days, but instead, he discussed divorce and claimed that she had no access to his body anymore, depriving her of her conjugal rights. Jessica looked again at the divorce papers in her hands as the white bulb in their bedroom illuminated the white-painted walls. She walked over to the headboard of their magnificent bed and placed the divorce papers safely there. Deciding to join Dylan in the shower, she believed he was still joking and behaving this way due to his alcohol intake. Jessica stripped off her clothes and walked into the bathroom, ready to confront her husband with the same level of emotional turmoil he had just inflicted on her. She was a curvy yellow woman with a sharp pointed nose, blue sparkling eyes, and long golden hair. Despite having given birth to two children, Jessica knew she still had a nice figure and many mature men admired her and asked her out, but she loved Dylan very much and could never cheat on him. She never looked down on Dylan, even when he was managing on his own. Jessica recalled meeting Dylan at a fuel station where he worked as an attendant, and how he had pumped fuel into her car on the first day they met. She quickly walked into the bathroom to join him before he finished his shower. ---- Dylan was standing under the shower tap, as he didn't usually use the white bathtub to bathe. When he saw Jessica walk in, her sexy body made him hard immediately. Dylan quickly turned away from Jessica, hastening through his bath and switching on the shower to rinse off the soap, even though he wasn’t done yet. In a rush, Dylan exited the bathroom, not wanting to spend any more time with Jessica, knowing he would end up having s*x with her and wouldn’t be able to resist her. Jessica stood in the bathroom, speechless, shaking her head in sadness as she saw Dylan run out. “What's wrong with him? Why is he behaving like that?” she murmured. Jessica saw how Dylan rushed out and walked over to the white bathtub to take her bath instead, as she preferred using the bathtub. After entering the bathtub, she began scrubbing her body. ---- In the master bedroom, Dylan knew he wanted to divorce Jessica because his first love, Rosie Andrew, was back in the country. Rosie had visited him at his company and in his office, where she cried to him, saying, “Why, Dylan? Why didn’t you wait for me to return before marrying another woman after ten years of knowing me and proposing to marry me first?” Dylan remembered making a promise to Rosie in the past that he would marry her after he was the first to deflower her. Although he wasn’t the first man to deflower Jessica, she remained kind-hearted and genuinely caring. No matter what he did to annoy Jessica or make her want to break up with him, she never got angry. She mostly overlooked everything. He had told Jessica that she couldn’t go to work and ignore taking care of him and their two children, leaving all the cooking and feeding to their maid. Did she want the maid to warm his bed too? Jessica happily quit her job as a banker at a large bank to become a full-time housewife just to please him. Jessica's car had also broken down in the third year of their marriage after Nina was born. It wouldn’t work properly without a good mechanic to repair it, but Dylan refused to fix her car or replace it with a new one—even though he was a billionaire. Instead, he bought a new car for himself to irritate Jessica, hoping she would get annoyed and leave him. However, Jessica continued to manage her old car or use public transportation since he refused to buy her a new one. Despite his attempts to push her away, Jessica would not leave his home. She got her car repaired instead. Dylan even reduced the weekly allowance he usually gave her for food to take care of the home and two children. He had told her, “You’re too fat now, Jessica. You should only eat once a day so you can lose weight. This money will be enough for you and our two kids; just manage it. Don't you watch your weight at all, Jessica? Just two kids, and you're already looking like my mother's age-mate.” Jessica smiled at him and replied, “But I'm still beautiful, Dylan! You don’t expect me to remain the same 22-year-old Jessica Albert who you met and married. I'm 27 now, and change is constant. Even you, my love, have changed; you look more mature and handsome than when we initially got married. So, you're changing too, my love.” Dylan frowned, frustrated by how Jessica managed to smile through every difficult situation. She never got angry or nagged at him, nor did she compare him to other wealthy billionaires in their town. Instead, she continuously encouraged him not to give up on life, adding to his frustration as he struggled with the thought of divorcing the kind-hearted woman he had married.
