Chapter Ten Mine Lucy was adapting to the routine at the mine. She worked for sometimes as much as twenty hours a day and slept the rest of the time in the barred cubicle in the cave. There were other women in similar confinement in the mine, but no one talked or tried to communicate with her and she was pretty sure that all of the workers were like her and all were also probably gagged most of the time.
