In the morning, as I left my bedroom, I found Kayla at the small kitchen table. She was having a bagel, drinking a coffee, and browsing her phone. Upon seeing me, she greeted me warmly by putting her phone aside and smiling. "Good morning Dexter." She greeted me. "Good morning, Kayla. How did you sleep?" I asked her. "Oh very well. I couldn't thank you enough for allowing me to sleep here last night. I really do appreciate it." She gave me another warm smile. "Again, it was not a problem." I walked over to the fridge and took out a bottle of water. "You don't have to worry about dinner tonight. As much as I would love to, I have a few things that I need to take care of." She picked up her phone to show me what she was looking at. "Changing your locks and installing security cameras?
