It was almost three in the morning when Carter woke up. Her eyes were wide, her body felt like stone. Her heart was pounding and sweat covered her body like a blanket. Her eyes scanned the room, her mind still half in her nightmare of dark woods and red-eyed wolves.   Next to her, Lucas was fast asleep, snoring softly into his arm. He was oblivious to Carter's soft sobs as he rolled over in his sleep.    After a moment, Carter realized she was still in her room with Lucas and calmed. Her heart beat slowed and she slowly wiped her eyes, making sure to not wake her mate. It had only been a dream, only a nightmare. But still, it made her sad and uncomfortable, terrified even.
