I let out a heavy sigh as I shut the door and took a seat at the table. She had moved over to the window nook, but I could tell she didn't want me to join her. I know she felt like I was forcing her into this, but I didn't really see another option at this point. There was no way I could see to smooth this over so I figured I would just be direct.
"Liliana, I wish things could be different, but please at least try to understand. I just want to ensure your safety especially if we are heading into war." I watched her curl into herself more. In this moment, I wish I could go back, but it's too late now.
