“Well, that explains Chase’s sour mood this evening” the doctor said as he chuckled, looking at Chase. “I’m not in a sour mood”, Chase snapped back. Everyone stopped and stared at Chase. Casey patted him on his back to cheer him up while telling him "You got this way every time Claire went out with a boy. Do you think some guy will actually be able to waltz in here and scoop her away from us? " Casey asked. "I would like to see someone they. I will break both arms and his legs" Chase answered as he stared at Damien. "That goes for you to. I don't care what title you have, I will bury you if you hurt her" Chase warned Damien. “Beta Chase, you know that little girl will always have room in her heart for you. be your little girl. Now Damien is the one that should worry, because if he ever messes up or hurts Claire,

Chase sat in his chair and sulked some more.
“To Alpha Claire and Damien” the doctor toasted. Everyone raised their glasses and toasted with him except for Chase. After dinner, Damien and I received congratulations from pack members. Chase’s mood finally improved after Dr. Parker took him outside after dinner to talk. “OK everyone, let's get all of the chores finished so that we may have a pack run tonight” I called out. “I have a class that I need to do before the run” Damien said as he kissed my cheek. “OK. I have to feed up the animals and sign off on a few things. Have fun and stay away from those poles”, I called out as he was leaving.
Chase busted out laughing. “I would like to hit him with a pole" he mumbled, thinking that I did not hear him. "How about I help you with the animals,” Chase asked volunteering. “Sure thing. Do you want to grab the apples and carrots” I asked him since he was close to the refrigerator. “You are spoiling those horses more than your Mom did, I have you know,” he said, as he pulled out the huge bags of both. “Hey, I learned it from the best then” I told him as we both smiled remembering my parents.
We started to walk down to the barn. “Do you think my parents would have approved Damien for my mate?” I asked Chase. “As much as I hate to say this, your parents would only have chosen Damien. He has always been their first and only choice” he said, smiling. “Damien is a great guy. He has worked very hard to be where he is at his age. He is only 20. His parents were killed before yours and his parents adopted him with the Alpha and Lunas' help. I am not certain about this, so don’t hold me to it, but I want to say he is the same as you minus the Alpha title. it may take me some time to get use to you and him as well you know. But you did get a good one” Chase told me.”Do you mean what I think you mean by that?” I asked him. Chase shook his head yes. “That is why his parents needed Alpha and Luna’s help to adopt him. That is also why I said he was the only choice of your parents. They hand picked Damien for a reason” he explained. “How come Damien did not know we were mates until I found out” I asked curiously. “My guess is that the moon goddess wanted to make certain that you would accept your own path before you were hit with the mate bond. Remember your pack will always come first. And that will go for the both of you”, Chase explained. “I know that.” I told him. .
I handed the colts the apple pieces while I thought about what Chase had told me. Could there really be another original blood somehow? I had done all of the research and traced the blood lines and found absolutely nothing. What if Damien was saved somehow like I was, and somehow my parents knew about him? I wondered if the pack doctor knew. I did not know how Damien felt about bringing up the subject, but this was something that I really did need to know. Not only for the fact he is my mate and any children we may have, but I also needed to know because it would also mean the safety of my pack. I was a big risk as it was, but now the possibility of two original blood in one pack was asking to be attacked if anyone found out about it.
