Chapter 1
Dimitri POV "5 billion dollars, Mr. Ivashkov. Sold." With a pleased smile, I shake the hand of Pavilion Theatre's previous owner. The old American man way over priced my winnings, but as a businessman that won't be difficult to work around. After high end construction and good marketing, I can pull in millions on the first night. It won't take long to get my money back. "A pleasure doing business with you Mr. Simmons." The wrinkly fellow grins and begins packing his old leather breifcase. "The pleasure is all mine. Do you need help being shown around o-" "No," I cut in. I can't spend another minute with this man. "I'll remember much better if I have to look around on my own." He smiles and nods, exiting the room to most likely spend his earnings Willy nilly. Fool. How could he have let this place fall so low? With ten different shows going on a year and 100 ballerinas, he should be pulling in millions per performance! Instead, he pulls hundreds of thousands a year. Picking up the contract, I look back to the parts I highlighted so ease my nerves. One of the last sections states that all of the previous ballerinas, instructors, and stage workers belong to me for a year. Perfect. I'll only need new ballerinas if I find them incompetent enough to fire them. Hopefully that won't happen. "Time to explore." Standing and shoving the contract into my own black leather breifcase, I button my suit jacket and exit the office. Seeing other office doors to the right, I decide to go left and follow the long hallway with strange yellow carpeting. This will be the first to go. Turning the corner, I can see the thousands of seats circled around the large empty stage. Looking up, I decide the giant crystal chandelier will be the only decoration to stay after construction. What a mess this place is, but I can fix that. Circling down many stairs, I search for the dance room in hopes of introducing myself to my new workers, but by the time I come across a door with a small window that gives me a view of my dancers, I'm being yelled at. "What are you doing?!" A thirtyish year old man walks out of the room with an angry face. "The show isn't until tonight!" My eyes lift in surprise and I try to peek around him to see the dancers better, only for him to step infront of my view again. He snaps his fingers in my face rapidly now. "Helloooo? You need to leave. The shows at eight, so don't come back till then!" He turns around to storm back in the room and I realize I haven't done what I came to. "Wait!" The man stops and turns with annoyance clear on his face. "I have a show to prepare my girls for, so if you don't mind..." The sarcasm is clear in his voice and I decide I don't like him very much. "I just bought the building and all of you work for me now." Though his face drops and he seems a bit hesitant, he doesn't loose his spunk. "Great. Nice to meet you, I'm the ballet instructor..." He opens the door and steps into the other room. "But like I said, we have a show to prepare for. You may come meet the dancers later tonight." With a heavy sigh I realize the man isn't going to let me through and if I'm going through with the whole 'being nicer' thing I've been working on, I should just wait until later. I nod and the man seems relieved when I don't argue. "Lovely. We'll be expecting you." "Jac! Come on!" An angelic voice giggles playfully from inside the room. My heart stops in my chest for a moment and the man in front of me turns around. "I am coming Falvia!" With that he closes the door and I can hear him saying commands on the other side. "Flavia," I try the name associated with the beautiful voice. Nodding in a approval, I turn on my heel and set out to find the exit. If I'm to be back for a show at eight, I have to call the construction team about postponing their work until tomorrow. Estimating the show to last two hours plus intermission, the show may not end until eleven. Normally sitting so long for a ballet would be a bit boring, but I have a feeling that trying to pick out which dancer is Flavia will amuse me and pass the time. I haven't even seen the girl and her voice has already enticed me to the point where her name alone circles all my thoughts. "Flavia."
