Chapter 3
After Turlach’s abrupt departure from the Zvezda, Saito didn’t see hide nor hair of the man for over a week. Saito thought it was an impossible feat, to avoid five other people in an installation that measured 9,800 meters of livable space, total. Somehow, Turlach managed it and for an absurd second on the third day, Saito was tempted to check for fairy stowaways native to his friend’s home. A silly thought, yes, but maybe they had made ‘Lach disappear.
Turlach’s vanishing act wasn’t commented on by the rest of the crew. Perhaps his friend took pains to keep his distance from Saito only. Or, more likely, he’d gone to John and requested a schedule change.
It made his heart hurt. What had happened between them was spontaneous. Saito still didn’t know what he was thinking, though
