“You think so?” I bit down on my lip. “You also said that he never bothers to show up to these things. And yet, here he is.”
“Yeah. He surprised all of us,” Caitlyn shrugged. “Did he ask to be paired up with you?”
Caitlyn was eyeing me suspiciously now. I quickly chugged down the glass of water in my hands.
“Not really, it was random,” I lied. “Why would he want to be pair up with me?”
The last thing I wanted was office gossip going around about us.
“I don’t know,” Caitlyn narrowed her eyes at me. “It’s just really weird that he showed up in the first place.”
“Hey, wasn’t this retreat his idea anyway?” I said. “He’s really not as bad as you say he is.”
“Did he pay you to say that?” Caitlyn quipped. “Are you sleeping with him in secret?”
