Her Redemption

Chapter 9

My assistant gave me the details of the lady who saved mum, but he didn't generate much information. She stayed in the old mansion. I haven't gotten to see her in person, only the old photo to which my assistant attached in her detail five years ago. Mom called to tell me that she was recruited as one of our designers, hearing that they were having a welcome party. I decided to appear at the bar with my friends to see her in person. I told my employees to enjoy their party and walked over to a table where I and my friends were seated, "your new sister, she doesn't look bad" Micheal let out sitting next to me, I smirked "if you think I'm gonna help you this time then you have to be kidding me. You can meet my mom about her" I asserted while sipping my wine, "okay, I heard from my mother that your mom is hosting a dinner party this weekend, what are your plans?"  Nathaniel inquired curiously, I stop my movement and look at the lady smiling, "no plans, I guess I'll be visiting the old mansion soon" I mumbled but someone interrupted us "excuse me, sir, can I have your tie" a girl from my company mumbled with a flirtatious glance,

"Get out" I ordered which made her shiver, she walked away immediately, feeling embarrassed, the nerve of her demanding my tie.  My attention was on my phone when I heard another voice, "sir" I lifted my head to meet the face of the girl who was leaving with my parents, my friends looked at me excitedly while waiting for a showdown, I glanced at her, she smiled awkwardly, "uh .. we're playing truth or dare and I was dared to get your wristwatch I was wondering if you could comply" she explained simply, I looked at her table and found the other one smirking, I took off my wristwatch and gave it to her, she thanked me and left "what was that! Did you give her your watch? This must be a dream" Micheal blurted in shock.

"I thought the same, Angelo you're sick.  You've never allowed anyone to touch your stuff, not even us but you gladly gave her your dear watch" Nathan muttered with wide eyes.

"That's why she is my nominal sister I have to save her from embarrassment" they all looked at me with lowered jaws, I shrugged and continued with my drink.

  Hazel's p.o.v.

  Sitting on the chair after the boss left, Mona came to ask me to be her friend, I smiled at her and accepted her with a handshake.  After a moment of drinking Zoey came up with the idea of playing "truth or dare" she was dared to get Mr. King's tie, I smiled aware that this is one of her plans to get closer to the boss, we all watched her as she squirmed her waist towards their table but was refused, I can't help but burst out laughing, "She knows how to embarrass her'' Mona whispered to me, I nodded accordingly.  A bottle was rolled on the table indicating my direction, I tried to choose the truth but Zoey and her friends already stepped in with a dare, I know they did it on purpose, "say it'' I groaned with a sullen face "get one of Mr. King's valuables" Zoey muttered as she got an "oh!!"  From our coworkers, "Aren't you vicious Zoey, why are you targeting Hazel?" Mona scolded her, but I stopped her.  "You are something else, but let's feed the eye," said one of my male colleagues, I took a deep breath and walked to their table, I hated when a guy thinks I'm throwing myself on them so I relaxed my nerves and explained everything to him, I looked at his wrist and thought about asking for his wristwatch, surprisingly he gave me the wristwatch which stunned me.  Heard of his cruelty but I didn't think much I thanked him and came back to our table triumphantly, "I had one of his precious'' I gave Zoey a smug smile, her face immediately turned dark, "you will have to take two bottles of beer for losing the bet" I let out staring viciously at her, she swallows the two beers presented to her.

We had fun. Soon the party ended, I  looked at the table a few inches from ours to find out they were already gone. I sighed, got up from my seat, and said goodbye to my colleague before leaving with the driver.

  When I got home I saw mum Helen sitting on the couch with a magazine, "mum" I walked over to her, she covered the magazine and looked at me, "what took you so long Hazel? I was worried about you"

  "Mom, rest assured that everything is fine, I just stayed for a drink and came running home" I explained.

"Fine, go to bed on time" she asserted and went back to her room, I wandered into the kitchen for a cup of water, ''I had a stressful day, being an adult and having responsibilities is not easy'' I thought.  swallowing a glass of water, I strode upstairs, checked on my daughter before entering my room, I showered and put on pajamas before I threw myself on the bed, I fell into a deep sleep as soon as my head hit my pillow.

  Waking up a little earlier I had to prepare Liana for school before going to work. They've been on vacation, now that they are resuming, I had to get up earlier than before.  I made some food which I packed in her backpack, we both showered and went down to the dining room for breakfast, I asked the driver to take her to school and left with a cab because I was already late, "you're a minute late Hazel" Alex muttered as soon as I walked into my office, "sorry boss, I got stuck in traffic"

"How far have you gone with your work?"

  "I'm done with that, it's just to start production," I told him, giving him the hard copy of my design.
